Fear and Loathing in the Sunshine State

Gingrich pushes populist panic on eve of Florida vote.

FORT MYERS, Fla. — George Soros, Goldman Sachs, and other forces of the “establishment” are conspiring to support Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign, Newt Gingrich warned Republicans here Monday, as Floridians prepared to go to the polls in their state’s crucial GOP primary.

Referring to an interview that Soros — a billionaire notorious for his funding of left-wing causes — gave to Reuters last week in Davos, Switzerland, Gingrich summarized Soros as saying, “We think either Obama or Romney’s fine, but Gingrich, he would change things.” The anti-Gingrich cabal, said the former House Speaker, also includes investment banking giant Goldman Sachs, which backed President Obama four years ago and now — having profited from taxpayer-funded Wall Street bailouts — is bankrolling Romney’s campaign attack ads. “Those ads are your money recycled to attack me,” Gingrich told the hundreds gathered outside Page Field airport here.

He cited no evidence that Goldman Sachs was in cahoots with Romney, and the opacity of the “super PACs” which are pumping millions into this Republican primary campaign makes it impossible either to prove or disprove Gingrich’s depiction of the malevolent forces arrayed against him. Yet he repeated similar accusations in different forums throughout the day — on ABC in the morning, on Fox News in the afternoon, and at each of the five stops on his final whirlwind tour of the Sunshine State — as if endeavoring to convince his supporters that they are victims of a vast conspiracy. Newt seemed to be providing a pre-emptive excuse for what polls indicate will be a decisive defeat for him in Tuesday’s winner-take-all primary.

Six polls within the past week have shown Gingrich trailing Romney by double-digit margins in Florida — the Real Clear Politics average of Florida polls had Romney’s margin at 12.5 points Monday — a striking reversal of Gingrich’s advantage after he beat Romney handily in South Carolina ten days ago. (See “The End of Inevitability,” Jan. 22.) The rival campaigns suddenly seem to have switched roles. Gingrich’s Carolina win was enough to inspire panic among Romney’s supporters, with Jennifer Rubin of the Washington Post warning that if Newt got the nomination he would “alienate virtually all independent voters, lose more than 40 states and put the House majority in jeopardy.” But as evidence mounted that Romney’s aggressive full-court Florida attack was succeeding — and after Gingrich fared poorly in two televised debates last week — it was Newt and his supporters who pushed the panic button, asserting that unless conservatives immediately rallied behind Gingrich, the “Establishment” would conspire to deliver the GOP nomination to Romney.

Among those who have helped spread that message is former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who last week issued a Facebook warning that “the GOP establishment [is] trying to anoint a candidate without the blessing of the grassroots” and “using Alinsky tactics to kneecap Governor Romney’s chief rival.” Palin yesterday reiterated that charge during an appearance on Andrew Napolitano’s Fox Business Network program, saying that “those inside the machine” are ganging up against Gingrich. For the first time during this campaign, Palin expressed a dismissive attitude toward another Republican challenger, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, telling Napolitano that the Republican choice is “one or the other” between Mitt and Newt, adding that it is “naively idealistic” to think either Santorum or Texas Rep. Ron Paul could mount a serious challenge to Romney.

Because the Florida primary awards delegates on a winner-take-all basis, there is no benefit to candidates who can’t contend for first place here. Paul skipped out of Florida after last Thursday’s debate, while Santorum was forced to cut short his campaign in the Sunshine State because of his 3-year-old daughter’s weekend illness. Both candidates, however, have vowed to continue the fight in upcoming caucuses and primaries. Santorum picked up the endorsement of influential conservative columnist and blogger Michelle Malkin Monday and, in an appearance in Missouri (which holds a non-binding primary vote next week), vowed to avoid “gutter politics” in his campaign. When the votes are counted tonight in Florida, Santorum will be watching the results with his supporters in Nevada, where Saturday’s caucuses will be the next contest on the GOP campaign calendar.

Meanwhile in Florida, the man who looks to be the loser in this winner-take-all primary was pushing an angry populist message yesterday to the supporters who gathered at the airport in Fort Myers. Gingrich warned that the Obama administration was attempting to impose a “dictatorship of anti-religious secularism,” he promised to move the U.S. embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, and he denounced Romney as having “no clue what Reagan stood for.” (One Romney ad cites Gingrich’s long-ago criticisms of President Reagan, which Gingrich sought to refute by bringing the Gipper’s son, conservative talk-show host Michael Reagan, to campaign for him in Florida.) Gingrich welcomed the endorsement of Herman Cain — whose Tea Party-backed campaign was derailed by allegations of sexual misconduct — saying that the Atlanta businessman’s support would “send a signal that this is a grassroots populist conservatism versus the establishment.” The crowd enthusiastically cheered.

“We’re in a very simple campaign,” Gingrich said. “We are pitting people power against money power. No question — you look at the list of top ten donors to Mitt Romney, that’s money power. That is the establishment. Those are the people who would be happy, as George Soros said, with either Obama or Romney, and they do not want a conservative. Those are the people who have led the assault on me over the last couple of weeks, by all sorts of folks whose number-one goal is to keep power in Washington the way it is now.”

Gingrich then alluded to New York — that is to say, the Wall Street financiers who he alleges have bankrolled Romney’s campaign against him — as having perpetrated a fraud that he promised to expose. “I want you to know, I do not believe it is legitimate for the current establishment to preside over the decay as long as they’re doing well. I think we have an obligation to our children, to our grandchildren, to fundamentally change Washington and, frankly, to fundamentally change New York. We deserve to know the truth about the last four years. We deserve to know what happened to our money.”

The afternoon sun was shining brightly and, behind Gingrich, palm trees were swaying in the warm breeze, but he seemed to see no irony in issuing this dark and chilly warning against the menace of “money power” to a Republican audience in the Sunshine State.

Gingrich is the candidate of the most radical elements of the Israeli crime syndicate. Romney and Obama are the candidates of Goldman Sachs and the Federal Reserve. It has always been Ron Paul or ruin.

Vern Crisler| 1.31.12 @ 9:18AM

Jack, will you get off this anti-semitic binge and stop with the anarcho-Paulista propaganda.

Dave Williams| 1.31.12 @ 10:21AM

Good luck with that....it's who he is. What a sad little life he must lead.

Jack in Wi.| 1.31.12 @ 11:19AM

Antisemite is the word used to surpress honest discussion of foreign policy and the Federal Reserve. Newt is being given millions by Sheldon Adelson and other Las Vegas people. Sheldon has been involved in a worldwide gambling enterprise. He is under investigation for his operations in Macao for bribery and other irregularities. I read all this in the Israeli press. Heaven forbid that Newt would have to answer a question about this, from an american reporter.

In regards to Goldman Sachs, Obama and Romney recieve huge amounts from them. They are the number one contributor to both campaigns. The Federal Reserve bailed out Goldman Sachs. None of my criticism is out of line or anti-semitc. It is specific and to the point. I hate the influence of the Israel in this country. Look at the turmoil Nutt and his radical zionist supporters are doing to the conservative movement and the Republican Party. It is time to give them the boot once and for all. They are a small minority of the Jewish voters in this country and bring nothing to the table. America First and formost. Let the world run itself. 5% of the world's population can't be the policeman of the world.

Mike D.| 1.31.12 @ 12:41PM

No, Jew hater, anti-semite is the definition of YOU!

Jack in Wi.| 9.10.11 @ 10:04AM
Occcam with all due respect: Whatever good indivigual Jews have done in the world pails in comparission to the bad of the last 200 years. Atheism, communism, Socialism, Nuclear Weapons, expansionist Zionism, and nuclear blackmail.

Oh and Uh, Sieg Heil!

Jack in Wi.| 1.31.12 @ 2:02PM

Mike here thinks that Americans are supposed to carry Israel on our backs forever. Well the people of this country are sick of wars and foreign aid. Let Israel carry it's own water. A lot of us goyim are sick of doing it. Hundreds of billions of wasted dollars wasted on the Apartheid state are enough.

That statement I made is absolutly true. Communism, Socialism, Atheism, expansionist Zionism, and nuclear blackmail all come from your people. Isn't it time you apologized for your sins, repented and changed. Return to the Torah and the Commandments. Give up your false gods of Mammon, Moluch [ love of abortion ] and racist Zionism. Go back to those old Jewish priciples of intellectual honesty, love of God, and brotherhood. Shalom.

Mike D.| 1.31.12 @ 2:27PM

No actually what Mike thinks is your a Jew Hating Neo-Nazi who thinks Jews are the source of all evil in the world(we know somebody from history what thought that very same way) and who actually believes he's so self-important that he seriously believes Isreali agents are conducting Physop campaigns against him personally on message boards. Now thats what Mike thinks!

"That statement I made is absolutly true. Communism, Socialism, Atheism, expansionist Zionism, and nuclear blackmail all come from YOUR people"

Well of course, thats what all Jew Haters believe, why wouldn't you think that? Oh, you forgot Abortion, Jews are responsible for abortion in the world as well. There you go people, and some people wonder why this goofball from Wisconsin is obsessed with Jews day after day after day after day after day ad nauseum in his posts. Wonder not why anymore! Obsessions are like that.

Jack in Wi.| 1.31.12 @ 2:45PM

The truth will set you free Mike. 50 million murdered in Eastern Europe by your bretheren, brought on a huge increase in anti semitism. The seeds of Hitler were spread by Jewish Communists and their crimes. The Zionists and their racism, theft, and murder, are spreading anti Jewish feelings all around the world. When are you people going to wise up and change? Peace and friendship are the only way for a good life in this world. Shalom.

Mike D.| 1.31.12 @ 3:15PM

"Isn't it time YOU apologized for your sins, repented and changed" and "When are YOU people going to wise up and change"

Does anybody here not think that if our Neo-Nazi friend from Wisconsin had the means of force at his very disposal "you" and "you people" would be "repenting whether they liked it or not? Of course, when the "you" and "you people" were done being "repented", it might be time for some other group to have their minds made right and be "repented", say Mormans, Coptics, etc. All of course according to Jack from Wisc and his vision of God's plan! Ah Yes, that wagging finger of historic religious self-rightousness pointing again.

Mike D.| 1.31.12 @ 3:20PM

Then again we HAVE seen the "wagging finger" being pointed at those who needed to "repent" during the Inquisition periods of the middle ages. Anybody see any similarities here? Naaa, just a coincidence, just a weird coincidence.

Jack in Wi.| 1.31.12 @ 3:37PM

3 to 4 thousand people were executed by the Inquisition over 300 years. They were given long and for the times fair trials. Jews were not subject to the Inquisition. It was only for baptised Christians. Before Hitler ever got a vote in Germany millions of Christians were murdered by Trotsky, Sverdlove, Kaganovich, Lenin and Dersynski, all of whom would have been eligible for Israeli citizenship. The Jewish historian Richard Pipes, has said that Hitler was impossible without Communism. Hitler was the blowback form Communism, just like radical Isalm is the blowback from racist and expansionist Zionism. Oh! That's right the mass murderer Trosky is the father of neo-conservativism.

Vern Crisler| 1.31.12 @ 3:33PM

"The seeds of Hitler were spread by Jewish Communists and their crimes. The Zionists and their racism, theft, and murder, are spreading anti Jewish feelings all around the world."

Well, Jack, I wonder if your candidate, Ron Paul, would agree with you. No?

Jack in Wi.| 1.31.12 @ 3:40PM

I don't know what Ron's opinions on the subject are. They are the truth. Israel is the most hated country in the world. Zionism and it's lunacy is the reason.

Mike D.| 1.31.12 @ 4:20PM

Well, Vern, its like this. Jack, when it comes down to it, doesn't care what any of Pauls stands are on anything other that saving the world from the Jews. In fact it isn't even about Ron Paul, its all about Jack, only Jack and always Jack. The only thing that matters is getting those Jews taken care of. Thats all it is and ever was. Unfortunately, it looks like after Mr. Paul goes back to Texas and he will, it looks like the unrepentent Jews are still going to be around unrepented. Now thats is a damn shame after all the work jack here has done convincing eveybody with that suave demeaner and convincing style that if those uppity Hebrews(those people) weren't around we would all be in clover. C'mon, Jew hating takes a lot of work and effort. You have to get up every morning, hit the message boards and spout the same message till everybodies ears bleed all the while being stalked by the evil ones themselves tucked away in a secret message board reading chamber in Tel Aviv. Thats what I call dedication, brothers. But it looks like the party is over, the great Jewish liberator has failed and I personally would like to thank Jack from Wisc. for his unremitting and unbending effort to not get Mr. Paul elected with his daily injection of maniacal tripe that would send anybody running in the opposite direction.
Uppity Hebrews 1, Jack from Wisc. 0

"5% of the world's population can't be the policeman of the world."--But they can provide most of the scientific, technological and medical advances for parasites like you.

Jack in Wi.| 1.31.12 @ 2:13PM

The world will get along fine with us minding our own business. It will have to. We are broke and our troops are broken in senseless wars. 5% of the world's population can't keep up this burden, especially for no sane reason.

Margie| 1.31.12 @ 1:39PM

Jack,

Unless you repent from your self-delusion to serve the living God (the one of the Bible), you're consigning yourself to Hell.

The WAY you are taking is call the WIDE way.
I hope you repent before you die.

"Go in through the narrow gate; for
wide is the gate and broad is the way that
leads away to destruction, and many are
the ones entering in through it.
For narrow is the gate, and constricted
is the way that leads away into life, and
few are the ones finding it.
But beware of the false prophets who
come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inside
they are plundering wolves.
From their fruits you shall know them." Mt. 7:13-16.

God throws liars into the Lake of Fire. Rev. 21:8.

Jack in Wi.| 1.31.12 @ 2:09PM

Margie. " Love your neighbor as yourself. Those who live by the sword will die by the sword. What you do to the least of my brothers you do unto me. Forgive your enemies. Love your enemies. Turn the other cheek and turn it again. " You seem to have forgotten all those teachings of the Prince of Peace. Your rants are full of hate. I forgive you for your transgressions, againist me, and pray that God will do the same.

da Monk| 1.31.12 @ 2:24PM

I have to wonder how Jack react to Jesus and his disciples returned? After all they were Jewish and they did live in what is now Israel. I also wonder if Jack would blackball Jesus if he wanted to join his golf club because they were Jewish.

Jack in Wi.| 1.31.12 @ 2:51PM

I have never called for any harm to come to any Jew or Muslim. They are all God's children, if misguided. I don't think calling for peace and justice will put me in a bad light with Jesus and his Apostles. I did belong to a lower class country club full of Jews, blacks, Asians, and guys like myself. They didn't blackball me and I didn't blackball them or anyone else.

Occam's Tool| 1.31.12 @ 9:22PM

Yeah. And no doubt beautiful things will happen to the Jews in Palestine when they lower their guards.

You are a vicious antisemite, Jack. You didn't blackball the Jews because it would have affected your business.

Margie| 1.31.12 @ 2:35PM

Jack:
Are you really Ken (Old Tex)??

You sound EXACTLY like him, you flaming hypocrite!

Notice the Scriptures he uses to condemn me because I tell him the truth. Typical Pope worshipping punk.

Self mutilation is too kind a suggestion for you, but nevertheless, go for it: Gal. 5:12.

Jack in Wi.| 1.31.12 @ 2:22PM

The Bible comes from the Catholic Church Margie. How can you depend on such a book for your inspiration? The Roman Emperor paid for the first 50 copies, a huge expense. The Church, with the help of the Holy Spirit, decided which of the many gospels of the times were the most authentic. the same is true of the Epistles. It also included the Septuagint which Jesus and the Apostles used. The Bible is just one of many ways the Church spread the Truth of Jesus. The Church was in business for almost 400 years before there was any formal canon of the Bible.

Margie| 1.31.12 @ 2:45PM

Pope worshipping Idolator:

The Bible did NOT come from the Catholic church.

It comes from God. The men He used to put His Words to paper (or papyrus), were appointed by Him to do so.

The men that He used to put the books into physical books were not the authors, GOD is the Author of the Bible.

Furthermore, the so called Catholic Religion is an Apostate Religion who since it's very beginning put to death millions of Bible believing Christians under the Papacy.

WHY?

Because the Christians rejected the MYRIAD false and unBIBLICAL teachings that the ADDED to the Holy Scriptures.

There seems to me, to be nothing so despicable as a lying shill for both Catholicism AND anti-semitism.

Which, if you do your research, both have a history of like nature.

The true church of God:

OF THE TRUE CHURCH OF GOD, ITS ORIGIN, PROGRESS, AND IMMOVABLE STABILITY, THROUGH ALL. TIMES

http://www.homecomers.org/mirror/martyrs003.htm

The Apostate church:

OF THE UNGODLY AND FALSE CHURCH, WHICH IS THE OPPOSITE OF THE CHURCH OF GOD, AND THE ORIGIN, PROGRESS AND SUCCESSION OF THE SAME THROUGH ALL TIMES

http://www.homecomers.org/mirror/martyrs007.htm

P.S.
The TRUTH is only HATE to those who HATE the TRUTH.

Jesus Christ is LORD.

Jack in Wi.| 1.31.12 @ 3:01PM

God appointed the Church to be the sacred editor of the Bible. He gave it His Authority. The Church was in business for 1500 years before Luther decided he knew more then God. Within a couple years the Protestant movement starting splitting assunder in many forms. Now there are about 35000 all arguing about the meaning of the Bible, which comes from the Catholic Church. Margie here, is her own Pope. She has set up her own Church.

Margie| 1.31.12 @ 3:30PM

The CHURCH is not the Catholic church.

Christ's Church are made up of individuals who do His Will, according to His Word.

His Word is contained in tat Bible you speak of.

Except for one important thing: it does NOT contain the teachings of Catholicism.

Church is not a Religion, nor is it a physical building.
According to the Word of God THIS is His "CHURCH":

"For where two or three are gathered
together in My name, there am I in the
midst of them." Mt. 18:20.

And, the Catholic Religion was not what the Apostles taught, nor did Jesus.

Christianity began way before the Apostate Religion came about, with it's false doctrines and Popery.

Again: history speaks for itself.

Papist Dan| 1.31.12 @ 6:46PM

BIGOT ALERT!!!!BIGOT ALERT!!!
The village Bigot has crawled from under her rock to with her daily anti-Catholic bigotry.

She pretends to be a Christian and lecture everybody here, but she is a fraud and charlatan.

She does not believe that Jesus is God and doesn't believe in the Trinity so she isn't a Christian. But she has appointed herself to judge who is a Christian and who is a Jew and a conservative.

She is just a plain, intolerant, stupid bigot and charlatan.

Ignore her. She is just trolling for a fight because she is pathetic.

She posts the same old every time she sees the word "Catholic" that throws her into her Pavlovian reply. Maybe she has Tourette Syndrome that forces her to spout anti Catholic bigotry.

Her reply will be: liar, papist, punk, repent.
Go back under your rock,Bigot.

Margie| 1.31.12 @ 8:15PM

paist Dan your name says it all.
You are bereft of the truth and care nothing for the Holy Scriptures.
You worship at the feet of a fraud, the Pope.
The Pope is a fraud, he only exists in his own mind as the so called "Vicar of Christ on Earth", for there is NO SUCH thing in Scripture.

You crawl out from under YOUR rock only to demonize for speaking the truth, according to Scripture.

You are disgusting and despicable and speak for Satan himself because like Satan, you're a liar.

Anti-Christ Pope Idolator, I hope you repent.

But if you choose to be deceived along with the millions upon millions of other Idolators, your lot will be with the rest of the Idolators, in the Lake of Fire:

"The one overcoming will inherit all
things, and I will be God to him, and he
will be the son to Me.
But for the cowardly and faithless ones,
and disgusting ones, and murderers, and
fornicators, and users of magic, and Idolaters,
and all liars, their part will be in the
Lake burning with fire and brimstone,
which is the second death." Rev. 21:8.

Since you're both a liar and an Idolator~ I hope you go mutilate yourself. Gal. 5:12.

Margie| 1.31.12 @ 8:18PM

Papist Dan:

This Scripture also applies to you, scumbag:

"You are of the Devil as father, and the
lusts of your father you desire to do. That
one was a Murderer from the beginning, there is no truth in him. When he speaks a
lie, he speaks from his own things, because
he is a liar, and the father of it." Jn. 8:44.

Margie| 1.31.12 @ 3:42PM

"Yet the Most High does not dwell in houses made with hands; as the Prophet says, 'Heaven is My Throne, and earth My footstool. What house will you build for Me, says the Lord, or what is the place of My rest?
Did not my Hand make all these things?'" Acts 7:48-50.

Margie| 1.31.12 @ 3:43PM

"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God? You are not your own; you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body." 1 Cor. 6:19 & 20.

Occam's Tool| 1.31.12 @ 8:23PM

58.3% reporting: Paul with 6.9% of the vote. Underperforms again!

If Paul can't beat Romney, no way would he beat Obama. I don't care what your ridiculously ballot stuffed polls say.

Margie| 1.31.12 @ 2:51PM

Oh. And p.p.s. Jack Sprat: My original post, above?

It still applies to you, and is the TRUTH!

Alan Brooks| 1.31.12 @ 7:06PM

Why is Jack harder on Israel than Margie is meaner to Catholics?

Alan Brooks| 1.31.12 @ 7:07PM

or is it loving the sinner but not the sin, Marge?

MikeG| 1.31.12 @ 7:21PM

Jack and Marge make a lovely couple.

Alan Brooks| 1.31.12 @ 8:11PM

But I don't think Jack lives a "sad little life", as Dave Williams wrote. I've read his comments for months, and he appears to be as normal as anyone.
Mainly, after 10 years of 9-11 propaganda, I'm tired of it. How many decades will Afghanistan remain as it is? 5, 10?
Will Iraq break into three pieces?

Occam's Tool| 1.31.12 @ 8:24PM

Alan: as normal as anyone? He's an illiterate fool who believes in the Protocols of the Elders of Zion when he's not adjusting his tinfoil.

Margie| 1.31.12 @ 9:13PM

Brooks is a Pope Idolator, so he says that about his fellow Idolator, the scumbag MikeG.

Brooks is another prime example of Pope worship. Like his pals, he really cares nothing for the Scriptures, only his Idolatry.

But God throws Idolators into the Lake of Fire.

Better read up and repent, fool.

Rev. 21:8.

He has no mercy on Idolators.

Margie| 1.31.12 @ 9:10PM

Go mutilate yourself, MikeG. Gal. 5:12.

Occam's Tool| 1.31.12 @ 8:00PM

Jack, WTF? Israeli crime syndicate candidate? Bit of a stretch for a Georgia cracker, isn't it?

Paul is now at 6.9% of the vote with roughly 44% of the vote in. He may not break double digits, Jack.

Looks like his campaign is going down faster than one of his supporters on a jihadist.

William R| 1.31.12 @ 8:29AM

Palin has always been a dumb biimbo

Vern Crisler| 1.31.12 @ 9:20AM

So McCain, does this represent your views too? Are you willing to throw conservatives like Sarah, and conservatism itself, under the bus for your moderate-liberal candidate Romney?

William R| 1.31.12 @ 10:14AM

Do you actually think Newt Gingrich is a conservative.

Dai Alanye | 1.31.12 @ 10:16AM

C'mon boys, get with it. Palin is quite bright if mistaken this time around. She should be supporting Santorum, who is closest to her beliefs. As for The Other McCain, he's far from being a Romney supporter, also favoring Santorum last time I looked.

Margie| 1.31.12 @ 1:41PM

I would bet you that Sarah's backing of Newt vs. Santorum has more to do with who can actually WIN the nomination.

Just my opinion, not fact. And she's probably right.. though God can cause Santorum to pull ahead in the polls and get the votes if He wants it to happen.

Purp| 1.31.12 @ 4:03PM

Pray harder, Margie, pray harder.

Margie| 1.31.12 @ 4:19PM

I can pray, but it is God's Will that is done.

Charles U. Farley| 1.31.12 @ 5:42PM

"I can pray, but it is God's Will that is done."

If God's plan is already written, and His will be done, you're wasting your time praying, right?

And tell me, as you've deemed yourself all knowing and speaking for God, what exactly is His interest in American politics? Strange that God is so small in your eyes.

Margie| 1.31.12 @ 6:45PM

First of all, I don't speak FOR God, He speaks for Himself. That's why I quote HIS Words as to HIS Way, and those Words are from the Bible.

"If God's plan is already written, and His will be done, you're wasting your time praying, right?"

No, it's not a waste of time, because His Word says He listens to our prayers.. all throughout the Bible are examples of God's people praying, and Him answering their prayers.

Jesus tells us to pray, and He gave us an example of how to pray. In it He said, thy Will be done, because it is up to God to do as He pleases.

Occam's Tool| 1.31.12 @ 8:04PM

I seem to recall that G-d does answer individual prayers, at times. He is also, as opposed to the Islamic moongod, a G-d of history and law. Pray away, Margie, and try to be kind to those who sin against you. All G-d's children should be judged by their best work, and you, at your best, are pretty sweet.

Margie| 1.31.12 @ 9:02PM

"Margie, and try to be kind to those who sin against you."

Occam,

I tried being kind to Ken, I invited him to call or e mail me long ago. I said if he wanted to act like a brother and ralk to me and make things right to do so.

Instead, he lied here, and said that he "would have contacted me, but I changed my e mail."

He's a liar. I don't have to do anything beyond that. except continue to defend myself and point that out.

As to the others nasty freaks here~ they too can go mutilate themselves.

People think Jesus was some kind of wimp that let people walk all over Him. They have learned about a Jesus not in the Bible.

Liars need to be told they're liars, and that's what Jesus did as well. He required repentance from Christians, and still does, before He accepts them back into a relationship, and tells us if a brother sins against you and does NOT repent, to have nothing more to do with them, and they are shunned!

Occam's Tool| 1.31.12 @ 9:24PM

But it would be very interesting to see who is funding the PACs that are running the adds for Romney, and who is donating to his campaign. I don't think the base or the Tea Party will stand for another bought and paid for nomination. Unless something changes, and Romney at least gives strong lip service to the conservative movement, he will destroy the Party when he tries to move to what he considers the "middle" during the general election. The Republican nominee must be a true conservative, and run on that basis. This will force the voters to choose the Republicans running on a truly conservative basis, and Obama on his record. The "middle will move to the right. It is not concievable that they will move to the left, and ask for 4 more years of this. If they do, it will be obvious that our educational establishment has done its job well, and we will be well on the way to the demise of this society.

florin| 1.31.12 @ 10:58AM

I don't know who is running the ads for Romney but a big time gambling figure is funding gingrich...and no one is talking about it...look into it and see what you think. Grammy-winning songwriter Dennis O’Rourke (Randy Travis’ Honky Tonk Moon) wrote another song titled “Down and Out in Sunshine Land”. One of the lyric lines rhyming with the title chorus went “I can’t find work so I’ll go get me a tan”.

By focusing coverage on the increasingly personal battle between Mitt & Newt, an opportunity has been lost for the campaign against Obama to show what can be done to improve opportunity for those hurt economically there, wasting away again there in Obamaville.

nathan| 1.31.12 @ 9:14AM

The irony of getting Cain to endorse Newt is just marvelous! Given their respective misdeeds you can see the ads now. I came back not just once but twice and I promise that in my administration I will tone down this family values stuff."

There are only two candidates in this election cycle that have signed, into law, mandates requiring citizens to buy health care insurance and those candidates are Obama and Romney.

It is wrong for the Government to require U.S. citizens to purchase health care insurance or to make their health care choices for them. It doesn't matter wheher it's the State telling us we have to do that or if it's the Federal Government. I don't care about the Constitutionality. It is dead wrong for any government to have control over our health care. What more intrusion into our lives could there be?

I thought, after the outrage that Americans seemed to have for ObamaCare, that Mitt Romney would not stand a chance to win the GOP nomination in 2012. Instead, it seems obvious that we will allow money, the media, and the GOP establishment to tell us who we should vote for.

God help us if either of these two candidates win in November. Voting for either of these two candidates is voting for socialized medicine. Once that is implemented, we will be a Socialist nation. I will stay home in November if Romney or Obama are my choices because the end result will be the same. It will be game over.

BTW, Romney has constantly said he would give all 50 states a waiver on ObamaCare on his first day in office. The ObamaCare law prohibits any waivers after 2012. And, having a weak-knee'd Republican senior campaign advisor like Norm Coleman is a good indication for how hard Romney will fight for repealing ObamaCare in its entirety. Coleman said it won't be done and I believe him.

Do we accept the legitimacy of the social welfare state and promise to manage it better or do we stand against statism no matter how well intentioned and propose smaller, less intrusive government? That is the issue which defines the wings of the GOP and the Conservative Movement. Which approach has brought success over the years?

2Anglico| 1.31.12 @ 11:16AM

William, every Congress since the Johnson Administration has been spending Social Security revenues. To try to blame it on Gingrich is lame. Gingrich is one of the few politicians who will openly say there is no such thing as a Social Security Trust fund. When he attempted to reform the system he was crucified.
I don't need to refer to any website for my info on Newt, I actually listened to him over the years. He has ALWAYS been a conservative.

William R| 1.31.12 @ 1:37PM

George S| 1.31.12 @ 2:03PM

The budget was balanced shortly after the capital gain tax rate went from 28% to 20% in 1997 (Gingrich and Kasich). Bill Clinton was dragged kicking and screaming into signing it (he was presented with five budget versions before signing).

About that debt increase... every year the debt goes up because entitlement spending kicks in by law. Blame it on whose watch wrote the laws -- FDR and Johnson -- instead of a talking point crutch against the nearest conservative. A clever argument it does not make.

Bill| 1.31.12 @ 2:16PM

This argument is really about Money Politics and who the winners will be in governing this Nation! You know, something like "Money Ball" and who the winners will be in Baseball.

Populism has cultural and nationalist roots.

If you want to see REAL populism in action look at the La Raza movement in Southern California. It is a Latino nationalist movement that is being driven by Latino populist leaders pushing for a dominant Latino culture there.

While you and Newt are using this "democrat" epithet to slander good Conservative voters the democratic leadership is cheering on this rise in real populism in our South West.

Fortuitous accidents tend to occur to those who are pushing the boundaries.

Occam. You couldn't find a stronger supporter of the space program than me and my family. Pete| 1.31.12 @ 5:34PM

I am hoping the primary season lasts long enough. Notice a pitch by the Romney folks to say that this primary decides the candidate. Why is that? Are they afraid that conservatives will take a harder look at him and not like what they see?

Margie| 1.31.12 @ 9:19PM

They think that by simply saying that, it'll somehow be true.

Margie| 1.31.12 @ 4:48PM

Oh, I haven't read said article yet.

Pat| 1.31.12 @ 5:01PM

Gingrich is positioning himself as the typical Democratic Party “Rags to Riches” candidate and maybe we should respect that - just as our mainstream media automatically disrespects any Republican who refuses to run as a tool of the rich. Not since John F. Kennedy over 50 years ago have the Democrats fielded a wealthy candidate for president, or at least one having obtained his wealth prior to entering the Promised Land, also known as the White House. Romney is rich by media accounts and most Democrats believe if you’re smart enough to get rich before entering public service, then you’re too mean spirited to help all those “disadvantaged” folks by generously giving away someone else’s money.

Back to back – first Clinton and now Obama are the “pulled themselves up by their own bootstraps” kids. During his Governor of Arkansas, “I’m only paid $22,000 a year”, tenure, Bill Clinton knew what it was like to be almost poor – in fact, if not for Hilary’s deep market insights into trading cattle futures, the Clinton’s would have been eating grits and pork rinds for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And while Obama never eats grits, he did have to serve a short apprenticeship in Chicago shaking down neighborhood banks for mortgage loans to the deserving but chronically insolvent.

But Gingrich should definitely run on this “I’m not a gazillionaire, but I wasn’t too dumb to make it in business” persona. Because any Republican candidate will need to go that extra mile in order to win hearts and minds among the “po folks”. And that’s because Obama’s allies within the mainstream media are currently finding these “servants to the wealthy” Republican candidates using “racist code words” in their attempt to defeat Obama. So, that’s another strike against any potential Republican candidate – either strike 1 as being wealthy before earning it while in "public service" or having inherited their wealth - with strike 2 being knowing some or all of those famous “racist code words”. So, words and phrases to avoid like bubonic plague during the campaign – “handouts”, crack cocaine, Willy Horton, basketball players, any reference to Dr. King, welfare mothers and KFC fried chicken or Mickey D’s – any of which could be construed as racist code words, or at least as expertly decoded by Juan Williams, Leonard Pitts or the good folks writing for the Detroit Free Press.

This Republican infighting is truly sad and reflects the idiocy of 11/4/08. People still don't GET IT.....THAT IT'S THE DEMOCRATS, STUPIDS! The money financing this assault against Ginguich is not primarily coming from Romney's wealthy associates, but instead from the middle east oil magnates. It's all tied to the Muslim Brotherhood taking over Arab countries' governments, and its all being orchestrated through the community organizing efforts of the Democratic Party. KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE. Wake up America before its too late. Liberals [ie Democrats] hate ultra conservatives like Ginguich, and can live with [and eventually olitically manipulate moderates and 'electable' cnadidates like Romney etc]. KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE. Its all about community organizing, funding Acorn with taxpayer dollars, keeping the welfare train running and the populus stupid through propagandized brainwashing. KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE. Stiff arm Newt, vote for the other three and keep the country managable and in debt up to it eyeballs. KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE. They hated Goldwater, they hated Reagan, they hate Ginguich and Buchanan. They are liberals=Democrats !!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe Newt is "consulting" with Hilary about the vast right wing conspiracy?
