The Politics of Incompetence

Obama White House scrambles to spin itself out of post-Flight 253 fallout.

On December 26, two days after Nigerian Omar Abdulmutallab allegedly attempted to use underwear packed with plastic explosives to blow up the Amsterdam-to-Detroit flight he was on, and as it became clear internally that the Administration had suffered perhaps its most embarrassing failure in the area of national security, senior Obama White House aides, including chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, David Axelrod and new White House counsel Robert Bauer, ordered staff to begin researching similar breakdowns — if any — from the Bush Administration.

“The idea was that we’d show that the Bush Administration had had far worse missteps than we ever could,” says a staffer in the counsel’s office. “We were told that classified material involving anything related to al Qaeda operating in Yemen or Nigeria was fair game and that we’d declassify it if necessary.”

The White House, according to the source, is in full defensive spin mode. Other administration sources also say a flurry of memos were generated on December 26th, 27th, and 28th, which developed talking points about how Obama’s decision to effectively shut down the Homeland Security Council (it was merged earlier this year into the National Security Council, run by National Security Adviser James Jones) had nothing to do with what Obama called a “catastrophic” failure on Christmas Day.

“This White House doesn’t view the Northwest [Airlines] failure as one of national security, it’s a political issue,” says the White House source. “That’s why Axelrod and Emanuel are driving the issue.”

Axelrod, who has no foreign policy or national security experience beyond occasionally consulting with liberal or progressive candidates running for political office in foreign countries, has been actively participating in national security briefings from the beginning of the administration. He has also sat in on Obama’s “war council” meetings, providing Obama with suggestions in both venues based on what he knows about polling and public opinion data, say several White House sources.

“[Axelrod] isn’t sitting in the meetings telling the President, ‘Do this because the polling shows that,’” says one source. “But we know that in less public settings, or on paper, David does provide guidance to the President that gives him added context to the recommendations and information our foreign policy and national security teams give him.”

Axelrod’s presence in the meetings has raised some eyebrows, as previous political advisers in the White House have typically not participated in such meetings. Bush Administration sources, for example, say that political adviser Karl Rove was not present at national security meetings.

THE WAR WE MUST WIN
Most Americans an Islamist-ruled world. Most Muslims fantasize about constantly! Moderate Muslims supposedly reject the Islamist vision and the support for jihad, but that is not congruent with Koranic teachings which is inseparable from it; Muslim extremists live and die for it, many with growing fervor; and a third group sits on the fence, waiting and watching. The political correct reassurances that only a minority of the world’s Muslims support violence is a lie! Good Muslim's are taught to lie as a prrequisite for spreading thier Tyrranical domination of the world! There is no such thing as a “moderate Islamist”. All Islamists are extremists.
Moderate Muslims are" anti-Islamist Muslims", who oppose the imposition of Sharia and all the oppressive baggage that comes with it. They are on our side — freedom’s side — and we should be on theirs. Instead,we are welcoming "moderates" into our critical institutions — as our military, aided by the FBI, welcomed Major Hasan- Ft. Hood shooter!
Poll data makes it perfectly clear- the Ialamists are gunning for the world and we are being led to slaughter by a host of progressive fools who are at the helm of this unsavory, illegitimate leaders Socialistic/Military - fascist?- regime! The greatest problem is that he would turn our military on God fearing Americans who have bought and paid for his freedom in a New York minute.
Iran and Turkey were the two great Middle Eastern exceptions, as Islamism swamped competing ideologies in all the Arab lands. Iran may still be, if popular majorities in that once great nation were allowed free choice, but they are governed by an Islamist regime more despotic than any Persian shah, ancient or modern. Turkey, once the freest, most proudly westernized and progressive country of them all, is on the verge of the same sorry fate. If you doubt that, look again at the new Turkey, governed by an Islamist party since 2002, a Turkey that is right now preparing to embrace Iran. And a Turkey embraced by none other than Kenya's , now US's Big "O"!

In other words, the administration's anti-terrorism policy can be summed up as, "Blame Bush."

Mind-boggling.

MacAoidh | 12.31.09 @ 2:12PM

Just how far do these people think they can take the First Two Envelopes gambit? Sooner or later the whiskers are going to start showing on that gag, and there will be hell to pay. Axelrod and the ballerina have to see a little bigger picture than this, no?

Pineapple Cowgirl | 1.4.10 @ 10:49AM

The blatant lack of any personal responsibility for their destructive policies is criminal! These people do not deserve to have a voice unless they step up to the plate and start taking credit for their failures. Our men and women in uniform are being sacrificed by fools and the blood of fallen heroes is being tread on! How dare theey disrespect our country like this! Terrorists should be hung- publicly! We must let the world know this is not going to happen on our watch and kick all the Radical Islamists out of our country and never alllow them back in. Two of the terrorist released from GITMO and returned to Saudi Arabia for rehabilitation were reponsible for this attempted attck on America! Call it what it is for God's sake. This is an act of war.
We as a nation cannot survive this unchecked; we must not be forced to enable these abusers and usurpers. It is like dealing with a bunch of non-repentant crack heads. It is always someone else's fault why they don't have money, cars, jobs, a place to live , etc.
STOP this INSANITY- Oust 'em All in 2010!

Take our Country back at the polls...or else!

I voted for President Bush in both elections. He and his VP had seven years to build a domestic defense.Instead they have poured billions into a cival war and stupidly thought they could bring these factions together. This president has done no better but the last bunch is a difficult act to follow when comes to defense bludders. When the terrorist get tired of bleeding us dry financially in Iraq they will come here and expose this weak defense system compiled under Bush and Obama.

Shirley| 1.10.10 @ 9:01PM

If Pres. Bush's defense system was so bad, why did it keep us safe for 7 years after 9/11? I has just been since Obama became President that we have had 3 attacks here in America.

CW| 2.13.10 @ 10:32AM

you conveniently foret the shoe bombing incident, the shooting incident in UNC, the DC sniper, the incident in LAX, the Antrax scare, etc.

Appleby| 12.31.09 @ 6:45AM

He is probably also researching any volcanoes that erupted while Bush was President so he can blame that volcanic eruption in the Phillipines on The Previous Administration too.

One begins to have a morbid fascination with just how far this will go before something or someone calls a halt and says the emperor is nekkid.

DVS1| 12.31.09 @ 7:11AM

Libs are getting "wee-wee'd" up, to paraphrase Barry himself because he and his administration are taking hits by both the left and right for their failure. Jeez, the terrorist's own father provided warning to Barry's folks. "The One" and his entourage need to "man up" and aggressively take action after their Hawaiian vacation, if not sooner. And Barry, that means no bowing, groveling, apologizing, and treating these scumbags like common criminals by providing them with Miranda rights and trials. Hunt them down and smoke 'em out. Until I see some results then I'll believe the DCCC propaganda about you guys being "more aggressive in fighting Al Qaeda" than Bush.

R Martin| 12.31.09 @ 10:35AM

There is at least one guy they don't have to hunt down; they have him--the lovely Umar. Within ten minutes after he stopped bleeding Umar should have been on a waterboard disclosing all the enablers who got him on that flight. After that, his burns should have been soothed with a piece of 50 weight sandpaper, just to make sure he was revealing all.

I've been wondering, if a terrorist on jihad burns off his willie on the way to heaven will those 72 virgins still be happy to see him? Just curious. Happy New Year, all.

tailgunner| 12.31.09 @ 11:39AM

He doesn't know it yet...but when he gets to Paradise he's going to BE one of someone ELSE's 72 virgins.

Of course, after 25 years in Supermax, his 'virginity' might be in question...

NickInVirginia| 1.1.10 @ 1:07AM

I had said that he better hope that the 72 virgins were all lesbians (since he can't perform anymore, and they wouldn't WANT him to perform), but I think your idea is better because it is more humiliating for him.

HalifaxCB | 12.31.09 @ 1:31PM

Actually as I understand it this is addressed by the ummah. Indeed all maladies are rectified for the shaheed, of course. And he is otherwise E-rectified the better to enjoy his robotic harem. I'm not looking that up but no, I'm also not inventing it.

Melvin| 12.31.09 @ 8:03AM

Even though it is a great idea for accountability, it isn't going to happen no time soon.
This is why these Statists do what they do. There isn't one single ounce of accountability. An airline almost gets blown out of the sky, and all we get is an Ooops!
Millions of Americans lose billions of dollars from shady accounting practices and schemes by banks, sweetheart loan deals to Chris Dodd, income tax evasion by Congressman Charles Rangel, and Barny Frank inserting 4 trillion dollars of goodies for banks in the financial reorganization bill that was recently passed and these guys still have their chairmanships let alone their jobs.
The only way that these crooked political bastards are going to be skinned alive is if we do the skinning, because government isn't going to police itself are we are going to keep getting is,
Ooops, and the system works.
For Christ sakes people! A good portion of the world is trying to wipe every American off the earth and Janet Napolitano is more worried about right wing bible thumper s that Nigerians with jockstraps full of explosives, isn't there something wrong with this picture. This stupid, incompetent, arrogant government bureaucrat still has her stupid job after all the ignorant comments and missteps she has taken.
Government isn't going to clean itself up people. We're going to have do it.

J. Kelley| 12.31.09 @ 8:12AM

The Terrorists have the green light and they will pass through in a big way. The Obama Justice Department are trying to put the CIA folks from the Bush Adminstration in jail. These are the people who are responsible for keeping us safe for seven years. Either they don't know what they are doing, or they are doing this on purpose. It has to be one or the other.

Jim O'Brien| 12.31.09 @ 8:20AM

Obama and his followers are treacherous, hiding their true objectives. They are also stupid, so they will ultimately fail. But at what cost to our country in blood and treasure? How many Americans will the terrorists kill before Obama leaves office? How badly will our economy be damaged before Obama leaves office?

Jim O'Brien| 12.31.09 @ 8:16AM

So senior Barry's White House aides want to show that the Bush Administration had far worse missteps than they could ever have? Hello, McFly... is anybody home?!! Here's the deal, Emanuel, Axelrod and Bauer: it's not about who's record is the most embarassing--it's about f'ing up the terrorists before they can strike again. Don't matter if we're Donkeys, Elephants, or anything in-between. We're all Americans in their eyes and to them we're better off dead, converting to Islam, or living as second-class citizens under Sharia law. America will never submit. Don't let it happen on your watch, Barry.

Why does Obama hate GWB with such a passion? Is it because GWB defended us against Islamic terror and gave the green light on wiping out jihadis? For a cold SOB, Obama's hatred of GWB sure burns red hot.

NickInVirginia| 1.1.10 @ 1:13AM

You're right. As much as the MSM will ridicule him, Bush has too much class to play those games. 0bama and his people are nothing but hoodlums.

Jamie| 1.1.10 @ 5:59PM

It didn't help us or the country that Bush insisted on bringing a knife to a domestic policy gun fight with the libtards, though. Didn't help us at all.

joan| 12.31.09 @ 9:02AM

One more terrorist attack and that will be Obama's waterloo--and the odds of it happening are approaching 100%.

Claire W Solt| 12.31.09 @ 9:04AM

Indifference at the top translates into reluctance throughout the government. Bring back colleen Ryan et al who couldn't get their concerns up the chain before 911. Calls for general reviews and hearings by a president and congress on vacation are not credible. 25 more attacks from Yemen could be dispatched while they celebrate New Years .

Rowane| 12.31.09 @ 9:26AM

Bush is a gentleman, not that that totes much water these days.

Darin| 12.31.09 @ 9:27AM

I hate to say it, but it's going to take an attack like this succeeding before the majority of Americans and the media wake up. In short, a good number of innocent people are going to have to die on the altar of Obama before the public wakes up to the fact that the high priest is a fraud.

Flyover Sam| 12.31.09 @ 9:36AM

Let's make sure we have all the names of the individuals involved with intentionally subverting the response to an act-of-war incident and converting it for a political party propaganda effort.

They'll all make the list for those who will hang for crimes against the state the next terrorism incident occurs and takes casualties, and political power shifts. FDR and Lincoln knew that a nation cannot permit treasonous activities such as these at any level of the government. Ignoring and empowering our enemy for political posturing meets the definition.

blackwatch| 1.3.10 @ 12:40AM

My brother flies in the right seat for the airline with the triangular sounding name. If the Obama administration a**holes in our Govt. succeed in killing him and a plane full of innocents due to all of this PC crap (lack or ethnic profiling, not enought air marshalls, illegal aliens working at secure locations at airports) THE GLOVES COME OFF.

All of the talk about body scanners and other high-tech "solutions" means nothing to me when lined up against the simple fact that the "panty bomber" would NEVER have made it onto an El Al flight. Their interview procedure would have weeded him out even if his background and the fact that he had no passport and no luggage didn't red-flag him first.

The Israelis don't give a rat's patootie about the political incorrectness of profiling and in-your-face scrutinizing of passengers. Neither should we.

Jeremiah| 12.31.09 @ 9:50AM

One thing the Christmas Bomber and the people now entrusted with our security have in common - I wouldn't trust either to successfully set their own underwear on fire.

Any word on whether Janet Napolitano is taking a break from monitoring pro-lifers, anti-tax protesters and returning U.S. veterans to watch for their potential formation of 'right-wing terror groups' and paying just a little attention to actual terrorists?

Ken (Old Texican)| 12.31.09 @ 9:55AM

I for one am so glad these communists, (pardon the shorthand), are so stupid.

One would think they could at least put on a better "show" to hide their intentions.

We got'em pegged, now, and right here in Texas there are eleven or twelve congressional districts where the Democrats have not even submitted a candidate to oppose Republicans.

I am wondering how often that is happening in other States. Keep us posted, you guys in other States.

"Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity (or incompetence)." However, in this case it seems that both are at work. Malice AND stupidity are a dangerous combination, and when they are the motivations for various cornered rats, we've got a beeeeeg problem, Houston!

debateright| 1.4.10 @ 10:58PM

The prosecution of those who did their best to determine the proper bounds of interregation seems like malice to me, and it has to have had a very chilling effect on the intellegence community. Now we have this occurrence and again, we have an administration that looks inept and incompetent (“the system worked”) and again engaged in trying to downplay the significance of the attempted bombing and security breech. Amazingly, Maureen Dowd most succinctly characterizes…

Jeremiah| 12.31.09 @ 10:26AM

The Obama administration is engaging in the Groucho Marx approach to national security -
"The system worked and we're even tougher than George Bush. Who are you going to believe; us or your own eyes?"

And while we are on the various Marxes that these guys subscribe to, their favorite - Karl - said that history repeats itself, first as tragedy, then as farce. He was wrong there, too. We have the European history of the 1930s repeating itself, but 2009 was the year of farce. Tragedy awaits us in 2010.

Too many of the children of the WWII generation have been greedy, shallow, vain and clever. They think themselves masters of the universe - and their own God. Most of their supposed 'compassion' is merely the protective coloration for their real aim - to take power so they can remake the world in their own image. I do not think God is either punishing or abandoning us. But He is withdrawing some of His protection from the consequences of our own actions so that we may wake up to where these 'gods' are leading us. Barack Obama was the perfect man to lead the people we have become - he is the very avatar of greedy, shallow, vain and clever.

The great and good men of history all believed in something greater than themselves. The shallow new men that are leading us ever nearer the abyss uniformly believe there is nothing greater than themsleves. Pray for our country and our poor world in the decade of tragedy that lies before us.

WTFCI| 12.31.09 @ 10:27AM

This White House just cannot control itself. It finds anything Cheney says to be too good to ignore. They think they must stoke this fire until it's dying coals.

The President himself took two different positions on this breach with his statement on the 29th and a new one on the 30th. The 30th was a completely new statement that was much more forceful in laying out the failures that took place.

George Dunham| 12.31.09 @ 10:31AM

I am unconvinced they are indeed stupid. The trend is way to predictable to account for "stupidity noise" in the captured data. I am beginning to suspect they are driving to precipitate an incident the people will indeed not tolerate. Then WE WILL be put down.

I pray daily this will not come to pass, please pray with me.

Is there any doubt that the left is dangerous to the survival of this country? With them it's heads I win, tails you lose. That moron, Chris Matthews, who epitomizes these fools, whines that Cheney is low rent to criticize Obama on this failure, then, in the next breath, can't wait to inform people that this guy traveled on a visa during the Bush/Cheney administration. Of course, there was no intel then about his newly acquired radicalism, and if Bush had done something back then, the left would have howled about racial and religious profiling of a completely innocent person!!
Of course, Matthews and Co. conveniently forget how during the Bush years he and his fellow lefties carped daily about closing GITMO, giving Constitutioanl rights to detainees, including lawyers, as well as mocking the very concept of the War on Terror. Their attacks were constant and multifacited, including the ACLU, the MSM and liberal federal judges, all eager to reveal national security secrets and hamper the war effort.
Whatever mistakes Bush made, the biggest one was caving to the demands of these lefties, who now blame him for caving to their demands.

I predicted this type of thing would occur PRE 11/4/08; due to Obama's inexperience and leftist background [and sure enough, it has come true and will continue to evolve as his term expands]. The American voters are to blame for electing this man as our president, who lacks the necessary skills, the will power, or the determination to be concerned with [and deal with] this terrorism problem [and with our fiscal, social, financial, etc problems]. WE elected him, folks, and WE are to blame for it. The only remedy is for us to correct our mistake beginning with next year's elections!!!!!

JK| 12.31.09 @ 5:13PM

WE didn't elect him. The 54% of the country that were either blind, stupid, or leftist idealogues were the ones who elected him. For those of us who could see him for who he was, we tried to warn - and now say WE TOLD YOU SO!

Frederick | 12.31.09 @ 11:44AM

Offhand, exactly how many American citizens died during Bush's first year in office in terrorist attacks compared to Barack Hussein Obama's terrorist loving administration? I sure once the numbers come out they will be devastating to our Socialist in Chief!

Doorgunner| 12.31.09 @ 1:06PM

If G.W. Bush was -as you Lefties would write history- such an utter, dismal, failure as Commander-In-Chief and President, why do you consistently use him as the benchmark by which Obama is measured. Isn't that setting the bar rather low?

SoCon| 12.31.09 @ 4:12PM

Well of course Americans died in Bush's first year--the feckless actions and total disregard for American national security of the Pervert Prince of the democrat party made sure of it. Too bad Clinton was boinking interns instead of extraditing Bin Laden.

8 YEARS Clinton
8 MONTHS George W.

Who is to blame for September 11, 2001? You be the judge.

Who will clean up another loser democrat's mess this time? No one from the Left, that's for sure; gutless cowards abound there.

JK| 12.31.09 @ 5:23PM

And more importantly, did Bush blame Clinton for the attack? No - he stepped up as a leader and owned it and dealt with it. OBie wouldn't know how to lead if he was picked in a conga line. And neither would the left in general.

The left can't lead, can't accept responsibility, and can't be trusted to do the one thing they are supposed to do - defend the country.

Checkmate - OBie is toast.

Brooke| 12.31.09 @ 6:07PM

I sure as hell hope so!

megapotamus | 1.1.10 @ 9:16AM

Actually I think Bush was remiss in not addressing more forcefully the failures of the Clintons on national security. The thing about these political "rules" supposedly in force is they are only ever in force for Republicans. But he chose his path.

Anthony| 1.1.10 @ 9:52AM

And don't forget, the congressional Democrats were so full of rage over the 2000 election, that many of Bush's appointees were being withheld when 9/11 struck.
Low rent Obama & thugs are now, in addition to still pointing fingers at Bush, attempting to blame the hold up of another Obama lefty lightweight appointee by Rs as the cause of all this. And of course, the MSM will take up the cause.
Bush should have indeed blasted Clinton for the white trash, letch that he is, but of course, with Bush obsessed with his "new tone", such actions were considered less than nobless oblige.
Rs will never get it about Ds, no matter what an R does, no good deed goes unpunished. It's time to wake the hell up. 2010 is going to be one rough ride. Happy New Year all, ass kicking time is here!!
,

NickInVirginia| 1.1.10 @ 1:25AM

We know the answer to the first part of your question - nearly 3,000. But don't forget Bill Clinton's contribution, since the 9/11 plot was started in 1997, and I believe ALL of the 9/11 terrorists were in the country BEFORE Bush took office.

For Barry, we have (so far) the soldier at the Arkansas recruiting station, the 13 people at Ft. Hood (14 if you count the unborn baby), and the 293 on Christmas day (from a security standpoint, you have to consider the eunuch bomber as being successful, because NOTHING we did stopped him. If that plane had indeed crashed, there would have been more than a few firings because people failed; they failed this time too, and should be fired just as quickly).

But it isn't just a matter of competence, it is a matter of attitude. Remember what BHO thought was important the day of the Ft. Hood massacre: BS'ing with the Native Americans for 2 minutes before he even mentioned the murders (and giving a "shout out" to someone he claimed was a "Medal of Honor" winner, when he was actually a "Medal of Freedom", the difference being that civilians don't get an MOH. Just another bit of disrespect for the military). THAT is the reason 0bama's people are so incompetent - their priorities are WAY off.

Plus they're crooks.

Patriot| 1.1.10 @ 4:03AM

They're also amoral dirtbags, but we already know that.

When is it going to dawn on the incompetent-in-chief that THE EVIL BUSH is neither the incumbent president nor his opponent in 4 Yo (2012 A.D)? On January 20, 1 Yo (2009 A.D.) at noon, Dubya became just another citizen and retired rancher. At that same moment all the burdens of the executive office were piled onto beavisbud’s rather weak shoulders, might explain while his head is always bent in the presence of real leaders. If he thought his predecessor was such an incompetent, why didn’t he take immediate steps to correct the flaws in the system? Instead he had Nappy target those who disagree that he is some sort of chosen one sent by Baal to save us instead of the fanatics who really do want to destroy OUR Country. It’s time for the reader-in-chief to grow up and do the job he was hired to do, lest his remora-of-state undergo a political rejuvenation and deny him the dumb-ocrat nomination in 32 or 33 months (I'm sorry - I didn't bother to look up when the next jack@$$ convention will be held).

The Obama administration is either dumb and naive or smart as a fox. It depends upon the objective they are trying to achieve. Given the fact our sitting President has been educated as a socialist with leanings to communism, I wonder if he is just putting this country in position for attack and taking her down to the level of a third world country.

If you review all of the activities Obama and his administration have achieved or attempted to achieve, it is not a pretty picture for freedom, the constitution and the American people. Many have already pointed out his bowing and scraping to foreign dignitaries, his apologizing to other countries, his desire to level the wealth of this nation for all to share (with the exception of himself and those who support him who are duly rewarded.). Then there is the nationalization of businesses, centralizing the finances and propping up some banks and financial institutions and letting others fail, the excesssive debt this country has incurred and the continued printing of money - all designed to make us fall. Then the passing of the health care for all Americans. You mean control of all Americans by who receives and who doesn't.

Now, we have the defense of this country which Obama has shredded by his indecision and when a decision is made telling the enemy when we will get out of their way. Europe is a shambles and internal turmoil from the Muslims who have been entering this region with the sole purpose of taking it over and making it part of their religious empire. So it is not a surprise that an extremist intent upon bombing a plane got on board from Europe without a passport, luggage, etc. We have no national security as long as we have incompetence and "political correctness". David Axelrod worked for a communist newpaper in Chicago. Rahm Emmanuel continues to be the chief architect of the level America plan and has close ties to socialist and communists and of course the Progressive Party.

My prayer is 2010 will be a year of the people and we will take back this country and re-establish this nation under the constitution the original blue print for this nation. We can only pray there will be no successful attempts to kill Americans. We can only pray this nation and her people will remain strong and our enemies exposed and defeated. We can only pray.

If the boy/man had just come out and said , 1. this is my fault and my administration is to blame, 2. we will find out where the problems are and they will be fixed ASAP, 3. this is part of the war we are fighting against terrorism, 4. and this despicable terrorist will be handed over to the CIA for "Questioning" and we will soon know who is responsible, 5. once we know who and where the responsible parties are we will go and kill them. Thank you for your attention.

Good plan. Forget the waterboard "torture"--see the BRAVEHEART or PASSION OF THE CHRIST movies for some good Christmas Jihadi Terrorist bomber interrogation techniques that will give "pronto" information. Follow up with a quick GITMO military tribunal, and a traditional Texas style "long drop with a short rope" to send him on to meet and greet his 72 virgins.

This getting to be too much like an old broken record. "Blame it on Bush, scratch, blame it on Bush, scratch,...." How much longer is this statist Kenyan born pretender n chief going to go back to the archives and attempt to find info to smear the last administration? I for one am tired of this tactic! What is that old saying, "Don't look mournfully to the past for it will never come again?" Obama, forget about the past! Biden's prediction is a misnomer, for the Islamofacists will continue to test this and any administration. Wise up VP! He just tried to sound stately and all knowing. Yes, your boss was tested and found wanting. Unfortunately Obama just isn't up to the task when it comes to keeping this country safe, and most of us knew that to begin with. If a man is too scared to show his birth certificate, school records, or childhood history how can he keep this country free from terroristic plots? A new day is dawning and the day of reckoning is at hand.

Sue | 12.31.09 @ 12:41PM

Is this satire?

Frederick | 12.31.09 @ 3:16PM

I'd say this post, along with the entire thread is the most hilarious satire I've read in some time. I mean, these people can't be serious, can they?

Doorgunner| 12.31.09 @ 3:55PM

One may thrust out one's jaw and stare into an unspecified distance in an attempt to strike the resolute pose. That meaningless affectation is brought to a position of less than zero by the presence of The One's chief political advisor at security briefings.

Seriously, we think that's unbelievably unfunny. And I've re-enlisted twice since 9/ll; is that serious enough, Chuckles?

Frederick | 12.31.09 @ 4:14PM

Only twice? I've ETS'd from active duty, extended three times and ETS'd from the National Guard in that time. Your banding about your record means zilch to me.

"'The One's' chief political adviser at security briefings," seems pretty trivial. Regardless it at least seems a claim grounded in truth... unlike the petty remarks alluding to the Birthers claims in this thread.

SoCon| 12.31.09 @ 4:31PM

Sure, Frederick--you're probably some dope addled punk living in your step-mom's basement.

Liberal losers like you are a joke. Go back to your bong, troll.

George F| 1.1.10 @ 2:01PM

Frederick. Take your meds. PLEASE.

Jeremiah| 1.1.10 @ 2:39PM

I have been puzzled about the birther controversy almost since its inception. The tinfoil hat 9/11 truthers had this very complicated dark and sinister conspiracy theory. Bush could have devoted his entire presidency to refuting it and it would not have made the slightest difference to the nutbags.

On the other hand, however overheated the birther theory, Obama has it in his power to pop it in an afternoon. Just release a copy of the original birth certificate - and overheated Obama haters have to find something else to obsess over.

I don't care to follow the birther line - for practical reasons. Even if they were right and successful, it would just give us Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. With the speed these incompetents are running us into the ground, it is liberalism we must defeat if this nation is to survive - not a point to make.

But the questions remains: since Obama has it in his power to immediately deflate these theories with the simple release of an actual copy of the original birth certificate, why doesn't he? I can only conclude he can't or he wants to keep the controversy going in order to discredit those of his critics who get off track of the main fight.

brad roland| 1.4.10 @ 12:24PM

Obama is a bigger threat to America than any undaroo nut. America must shut him down 2010.

SoCon| 12.31.09 @ 4:18PM

Thank God for American heroes like you, Sir: We are forever in your debt.

Thank you for your service, stay safe and a Blessed, Happy New Year to you.

NickInVirginia| 1.1.10 @ 1:32AM

Frederick,

It isn't important what you think, because your thought processes go hand-in-hand with 0bama's, and he has already proved to the world how incompetent he is.

As LBJ said about Gerald Ford: you should have worn your helmet more often.

Road Kill| 12.31.09 @ 11:20PM

Somewhat satire my dear. There's nothing wrong with checking out your 6 for a threat from time to time, but the Pretender n Chief is looking backward too much. The claim that I inherited this or that from the last administration reminds us of Flip Wilson's "The Devil made me do it." Only with Obama, "I'm doing it because Bush screwed up!" It's like a man blaming his ex-wife for all of his post marriage mistakes. Let's cowboy up here Pres! Eventually you'll have take some of the responsibility. Oh, and Ms. Sue, have a great 2010.

Road Kill| 1.2.10 @ 9:22AM

A reply to the critique of the Birthers- It is claimed that they are a bunch of tin foil hat wearing loonies, that they hang out on weird websites (infowars.com), and are just plain hick hayseed idiots. However, the question still remains! Where was this dude born? We had to know a few years back where J. McCain was born just to ensure that he would be a ligit presidential candidate, correct? Does not the Constitution specify where our President is to be born and that US citizenship is required? (We don't know, plain and simple.) It is very puzzling why all birth records and school records and closed to the public! Does anyone care? Did not the news media flout GW's grades before the public, and claim that he was a poor student, not bright, or a low brow? Did not the liberal news media launch in on Sarah Palin and question who was the mother of her last child? On this AS website we see posters giving a pass on this issue. Now imagine, shut your eyes for just one moment, and pretend that our current president is a conservative. Do you think this issue would be by-passed by the Libuturds? Honestly? By laughing at this issue it displays nothing more than a double standard, just like the statists liberals currently in charge.

Alice Moore| 1.4.10 @ 8:27AM

I, too have questions about the birth certificate. However, it's not a productive avenue of opposition. The legal system will probably shrug this off similar to the IOC's inaction regarding Underage Chinese gymnasts. In fact there is a greater chance the pretween Chinese gymnasts will be stripped of their medals than O will be stripped of the US presidency for lack of citizenship.

This is why we should stick to the avenues of opposition that have a better chance of success. That would be electing conservatives starting with the primary process, for starters.

Speaking of incompetence, mention should be made of passengers and members of the media who are entertaining the possibility that a co-conspirator was filming the flight to Detroit and maybe even to record a test run. Whether such filming took place or not, simple advertence to the fact that a successful mission would have destroyed the filmer and the film should have stopped anyone from putting forth such an inplausible scenario. One can surmise that none of the terrorists involved actually thought the mission would fail or that somehow a film of an unsuccessful mission would have aided future missions. Also required would have been that the film not be known about or conviscasted after an unsuccessful mission.

Maura| 12.31.09 @ 4:22PM

So let me get this straight: The BHO White House's knee-jerk response to the inevitable next act of terrorism using a US commercial aircraft was to do historical research and declassify intelligence if necessary to spin-doctor their way out of what happened on their watch? Will a member of the White House press corps (other than Major Garrett) have the backbone to ask at the next briefing " is it now White House policy to respond similarly to all future terrorist attacks as a PR issue?" How do these people sleep at night?

Colin Foy| 12.31.09 @ 5:11PM

As cynical as it may seem I truly believe some sort of attack, national emergency, etc is exactly what this group of tyrannical democrat parasites want. Add to this near calamity the courts martial of three of our valiant navy seals (while terrorists are being coddled), the issuing of Executive Order 12425, (Signed by B. I think it is interesting that it is Cheney that speaks out about Obama's policies and not Bush. Oh please, I have heard this notion of Bush being "classy" but I am not buying that. I am glad that Cheney has the guts to speak out-I love when he get Obama and his helpers all" wee-weed up " Its a wonderful thing to watch. But: I think this is the isseu for me:

Republican --as GWB_ are not aggressive enough against this dangerous policy.of Obama's .
Silence is not golden. There should be respectful but pointed criticism with ideas of how to improve security for the American People. Republicans must be more asservative ( in his face ) behaviors that challenge Obama's view of this country and its implications for fighting terror. The number one issue is this : This a war,not criminal activity. Act like a commander in chief--not like Michael Bloomberg and Ray Kelly.

I want to believe these allegations. I want to believe that the Obama Administration, which I regard as corrupt and deceitful, actually did what the anonymous source describes. It would fit my preconceptions to a T.

BUT...

I've been asking myself: If allegations equally damning were to be made by an anonymous source inside a conservative Republican administration, would I be equally ready to accept them?

Sources not willing to have their names revealed should be regarded with considerable scepticism. Such persons' credibility is hard to verify; their private agendas are unknown. Among other things, they could be setting you up for a "Killian memos" debacle.

So until I see confirmation of these claims, preferably from someone who's willing to do it on camera and underhis right name, I'll withhold judgment. It's just too easy to believe accusations of bad conduct, made against someone or some institution I already dislike.

Happy New Year.

Nobama| 1.1.10 @ 4:23PM

Obama's amoral agenda is out there for all to see but it's being protected by the media. We no longer have a watch dog press; the traitorous Lame-Stream Media is dead, they only conduct witch hunts on republicans.

Yes, and the last 2 terrorist attacks happened under Dumbo ears administration. What's your point?

Margie| 1.1.10 @ 11:20PM

hey now that's an insult to Dumbo who's actually very cute!

mary| 1.1.10 @ 7:15PM

Dick Cheney is responsible for the screw ups under Bush, including 9/11 intelligence that was ignored, and for the blame game strategy. Don't blame the White House one bit for finally pushing back. Had anyone treated Dick the way he's treating the current administration, they would have been called un-American and run out of town by you and your wingnut brethren.

SoCon| 1.1.10 @ 8:54PM

That's a new one!

Mary, do you have any facts to back up your absurd accusations or are you just repeating what the voices in your head are bleating?

Too bad for America that Clinton was boinking interns instead of extraditing Bin Laden when he was given the chance(s). The Pervert Prince of the democrat party rejected Sudan's repeated attempts to hand him over to us.

I know you liberals abhor the truth like Vampires abhor the light, but after 8 long YEARS of Clinton fecklessness and numerous terrorist attacks on his watch, I'd hardly blame Cheney, especially since he was VP for only 8 MONTHS.

If anything, Cheney is an American hero.

Margie| 1.1.10 @ 11:25PM

Alright SoCon!
God bless you and Happy New year!

Margie| 1.1.10 @ 11:44PM

yeah, better watch out mary, Darth Vader might be sleeping under your bed this evening, or hiding in your closet. Be afraid.. be very afraid. And you should check your refrigerator in the morning for any left-overs that went missing.

mary| 1.3.10 @ 2:56AM

Dick and his cronies treated America like a fridge to be raided for eight years. I understand why you want to avoid that and go back to President Clinton, but BUSH-CHENEY was not just a bad nightmare. It really happened, thanks to ghouls and tools like you, Margie, and your buddy (the very appropriately named) con man. We should all be very afraid of ignorant folk like you two. I wish you both a hunting trip with your hero Dick.

SoCon| 1.3.10 @ 3:40AM

Kind of like avoiding the fact that 4 terrorist attacks occurred under Clinton's watch, and Billy Boy did nothing to extradite Bin Laden when given the chance? That kind of avoidance? Eight years of Clinton nearly destroyed our country, I hope we can survive three more of you fascist fools.

Mary, it's called the truth, something you fascists have an aversion to.

Talk about raiding the refrigerator--how about Obama taking over the Auto company, Chrysler, screwing legitimate shareholders out of their investments and giving the bulk of the Corporation to his undeserving Union thug cronies? It's called political payback and it stinks. That's a pretty good trick for you deceitful, corrupt fascist dummocraps.

BTW, with your fellow democrat incompetents now in office, better stay off airliners if you want to stay alive.

Now go back under your slimy rock, the other liberal snakes miss you.

Margie| 1.3.10 @ 4:28PM

mary, mary quite contrary, how does your garden grow?
hey I've never been called a ghoul before so thanks for the new name to add to my arsenal.
I would consider it an honor like you have no idea if Mr. Cheney ever invited me to go hunting with him. Especially since I've never been hunting. Even if I accidentally got shot. At least I'd know it'd be an accident. On the other hand to go hunting with Barak Obama... hmm.
Well anyway mary, I think it's quite sad that you think the way you do. That you believe lies are truth and truth are lies. I hope you come to your right mind before it's too late.

The question here is should left wing democrats be allowed to handle national security? They are like children who you cannot let near sharp objects, loaded guns or terrorists lest they hurt themselves or more likely one of us! I've posted a number of articles covering this very topic. The question really is why are they so blind to the reality of the world around them? Is it intentional, is it arrogance, or is it ignorance? Or is it all three?
