The Obama Watch

Polonius POTUS

The president who speaks (and speaks and speaks).

Polonius POTUS

The President who speaks (and speaks and speaks).

On the seventh day, God rested. But not Barack. Knowing the great work of mismanaging health care, bankrupting the economy and giving aid and succor to the nation’s enemies was not yet done, the president appeared on no fewer than five television programs on Sunday, Sept. 20 — lecturing the American people on the need for immediate action on thousands of pages of health care legislation that neither he nor anyone else has even read.

This is good for us. We need to know the error of our ways. Barack will do that for us, and then some! No president has ever talked so much, or dished out so much free and unsolicited advice.

Appearing on television before millions of American school children earlier in the month, he served up one platitude after another of stunning banality. “This above all,” he said, “to thine own self be true.” No, wait, it was Shakespeare’s Polonius who said that. But Barack said something strikingly similar. That was just one of dozens of recent speaking engagements for this most front-and-center of presidents.

Like Polonius, who proudly announces in Hamlet that he “played once i’th’ university…I did enact Julius Caesar,” Mr. Obama is something of a thespian.

Speaking on the anniversary of the collapse of Lehman Brothers, he played the part of an angry Moses come down from the mountaintop — warning bankers what would happen if they failed to mend their ways in accordance with his commandments. He told them that he would not intervene a second time to save them from themselves. No, he would let them fall straight to hell. “I want them (i.e. the evil bankers) to hear my words,” said he, nodding his head at the gravity of his own words. “Those on Wall Street cannot resume taking risks without regard for the consequences and expect that the next time, American taxpayers will be there to break their fall.”

Sometimes, Barack cannot hide his impatience with those who doubt his omnipotence. One time, rolling up his sleeves at the entrance to the Augean stables, he said, “I don’t want the folks who created the mess to do a lot of talking. I want them to get out of the way so we can clean up the mess. I don’t mind cleaning up after them but don’t do a lot of talking.”

Maya Soetoro-Ng, Barack’s Indonesian-born half sister, relates that “There was this joke in our childhood that he was going to be the first African-American president.” It was based, she says, “on the fact that he was so bossy and he was always winning arguments. You know, he was always trying to tell people what to do so we were like, ‘Oh, yes, Mr. President!’”

Where does this unwavering certainty and wonderful belief in one’s self come from?

It comes from his vision.

In his classic book The Vision of the Anointed: Self-Congratulations as a Basis for Social Policy, the economist and social commentator Thomas Sowell described two opposing visions: one tragic, the other triumphant. While the tragic vision is bound by a sense of limitation, the triumphant vision is characterized by total certainty in the ability of the advanced or anointed few to alter the course of human events and make wise and momentous decisions for the good of all.

To someone adhering to the former vision, police, prisons and other parts of the criminal justice system represent necessary if unfortunate trade-offs in protecting individual freedom and property rights. Adam Smith, the most celebrated proponent of limited government, underscored this view of an intrinsically flawed and imperfectable humanity in his comment on the problem of crime in a free society. “Mercy to the guilty,” he said, “is cruelty to the innocent.”

To others subscribing to the latter vision, however, the preferred approach is to prevent crime from arising in the first place by creating a more perfect society. That is to say, they believe it is within their power to devise a deliberate and artfully constructed plan that will eliminate the root causes of crime. The anointed few aspire to “solutions” of their own creation that offer a clean and miraculous (i.e., essentially costless) break with the past. And this is where candidate Obama — unbounded by any kind of a reality check — enjoyed a huge advantage over President Obama.

Most Americans admit to being confused over the issues involved in the health care dispute. In fact, the American people have received a crash course on the economics of health care reform that has made them more aware than ever that there is indeed “no free lunch” — meaning that there is no way that the government can force insurers and employers to extend coverage to millions of additional people, and be more generous in the coverage they provide (turning a blind eye to pre-existing conditions and meeting all kinds of new federal mandates), while, at the same time, reducing costs, avoiding the need for rationing, and adding not so much as a dime to the federal deficit.

It occured to me yesterday while the messiah was in New York giving away the country that it would almost balance the budget if he were to stay in the White House where he belongs.
Methinks he should also tell his wife (if he dares to tell her anything), to send a servant or staffy to pick up her kale -- would cause a lot less distraction and frayed tempers in Washington.

Becky| 9.25.09 @ 8:57AM

I have thought he needs to brief his wife on the responsibility lectures he gives the rest of us on spending. Her little excursion was bizarre and very under reported.

I wonder if that market saw its food stamp redemptions rise, as Michelle advocated.

Melvin| 9.25.09 @ 7:41AM

One of the biggest reasons that the President has diarrhea of the mouth is, that is all he knows how to do.
He lies in the same bed ad dictators and tyrants, tosses long time allies away like garbage, and his domestic policy if it could be called that, has been nothing more than rewarding corruption, and saddling future generations with debt.

Kurt| 9.26.09 @ 3:15PM

The Superior Intellects Dictionary defines logorrhea as 'diarrhea of the mouth' Just ask any true liberal!

bluecollarbytes| 9.25.09 @ 8:25AM

On the bright side....the more Obama opens his mouth, the more voters get to know who he is and what he's about. And maybe next time voters will pay attention when a shadow runs for the presidency. And they'll demand answers to questions the mediaborg refuses to ask, maybe.

i doubt it...but just maybe....

Xanthippas | 9.25.09 @ 9:02AM

Wondering if you guys noticed this:

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09.....=1&hp;
Specifically this part:

"Mr. Obama had, by that point, made a giant step toward getting Russia more amenable to the idea of sanctions against Iran — something Moscow does not like — by announcing last week that he was replacing President George W. Bush’s missile defense with a version less threatening to Moscow. That issue, one administration official said, completely changed the dynamic during Mr. Obama’s meeting with Mr. Medvedev.

While it is unclear whether Mr. Obama briefed Mr. Medvedev about the Qum facility during that meeting at New York’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel, the two leaders nonetheless emerged with Mr. Medvedev promising, for the first time publicly, that Russia would be amenable to tougher sanctions."

So, anybody want to admit they were wrong about the removal of the missile defense program weakening American security? No?

Sawdust| 9.25.09 @ 10:30AM

Jumping the gun a little bit, aren't you? Just because Medvedev says he will impose sanctions doesn't mean that he will actually do it, any more than Obama's health care plan "won't add a dime to the deficit". I wouldn't bet my money on either actually coming to pass. But then, I wasn't gullible enough to vote for Obama.

Johnno| 9.25.09 @ 12:45PM

Only a commie would believe another commie's promises. What a moron!

realist| 9.25.09 @ 12:52PM

"less threatening to Moscow"

bahahahahahaha.........and why would that be? the ability of this administration and the Left o sell out millions without so much as a bat of an eyelid is breathtaking!!!!

Margie| 9.25.09 @ 3:38PM

Admit we were wrong? Why, because one Commie just kissed the a@# of another one?

ben| 9.25.09 @ 4:48PM

Do you really think it's okay to sell out your friends to your enemy in order to get your enemy to comply with you against another enemy?
We've had sanctions on Iran for years. What good have they done? -None. What good will more do?-None.
Russia was affraid of our missile defense because it compromised the intimidation imposed by their missiles. Removing missile defense removes Europe's protection from both Russian and Iranian missiles. Iran and Russia are friends and in order to get Russia to agree to more impotent sanctions against Iran we eliminated the ability of our friends to protect themselves from both Russian and Iranian threats.
Who wins with these actions? - Russia and Iran.
Who loses? - Europe and the USA.

victor| 9.25.09 @ 10:17PM

Reminds one of the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact doesn't it?

Wayne| 9.28.09 @ 4:44PM

Medvedev did not say that he would agree to stricter sanction. He said that he opposed sanctions, but that sometimes they were unavoidable. There is no commitment to support the U.S. agenda there, and plenty of room for Russia to continue to subvert our efforts regarding Iran.

DouginIndiana| 9.25.09 @ 9:05AM

What scares me is that for the first time in my lifetime, the president of the United States is younger than me. Which means that even after he's summarily dispatched in 2012 (please, God!), I'll most likely have to be exposed to his sanctimonious B.S. for the rest of my life. What a pompous twit!

Truth to Power| 9.25.09 @ 9:05AM

Don't count your chickens.

crookedwren| 9.25.09 @ 9:55AM

LQQKY -- my thoughts exactly.

And as for getting at least SOMETHING out of Russia, Obama has been quite busy insulting not only the Poles and the Czechs, but he's slighted Gordon Brown (MAYBE O is mad at Scotland?) and, in front of the UN, called the State of Israel an "Occupation."

It's not one or two things that we find appalling, it's pretty much EVERYTHING he's doing and saying and saying and saying and saying and. . . .

WilliamInWien| 9.25.09 @ 10:02AM

To Speak or Not To Speak? More likely, To Listen or Not To Listen? The more the POTUS appears on our screens, the more likely we are not to listen to what he is saying, which, I believe is dangerous. Researchers have provided quotes and tapes of his statements prior to being elected and few listened. At best, the American public will tire of his preaching and lecturing and tune him and the Chicago Machine out (by voting). As for abandoning the missile defense in Eastern Europe, does XANTHIPPAS really believe that the Russians did not get what they wanted all along? And, since cost might have been a factor (as in Afghanistan) there has been no mention about increasing the strength of the Navy and its Aegis Missile Defense system that is supposed to replace the stationary system. Smoke and Mirrors!

JimJam| 9.25.09 @ 10:21AM

Who is looking into the fixing of the next Presidential election by the socialists? If, for one NY minute, you think that Obama is going to be satisfied with a 4 year term, think again. This Administration has already determined that it will win the next election by any means necessary in order to continue it's ruination of America. Keep your antennae up; the unions, ACORN and the rest will do anything to get this guy re-elected in 2012.

KyMouse| 9.25.09 @ 1:58PM

I keep thinking that he'll want to go on to become Secretary-General of the U.N. and remake that garbage dump into the crack machine with which he can rule the world. Seems to me that's a big part of why he always tries to give the impression that he is a citizen of the world, above all of the petty concerns that preoccupy the rest of us Americans. If by some wonderful chance he isn't re-elected in 2012, it's hard to picture him simply going on the lecture circuit. Too young, too ambitious.

Sue| 9.28.09 @ 7:06AM

"Ambitious - desire for success, honor, or power."
Yea. You could say the "power" part fits him, but not the success or honor part.

Margie| 9.25.09 @ 3:49PM

You are absolutely correct. That is my fear as well. And how many of us actually believe he was FAIRLY elected this time? Can you say Chicago Mob all the way to the White House? Paging Mayor Daley. Oh, and why do think the Census Bureau wants to count everyone as if they were citizens. Legal and illegal alike?

Kurt| 9.26.09 @ 3:29PM

Indeed JimJam; however, if the deadbeats that pretend to care had voted......Well, that's another story. Looking ahead to 2010, simply removing Pelosi & Frank would go a long way. What would go even further is removing the democrats who know better than to buy into Pelosi & Frank but are to worried about their political career to stand up and tell Barney the progressive dinosaur & Nancy the Nazi where to find their votes. Then on to the Senate. It ain't hard to make Barney stammer, Nancy put her foot in her mouth, nor Obama the Osiah a true lame duck. Come on folks it ain't Obama-it's apathy by US!

rdman| 9.27.09 @ 12:00PM

Conservatives need to become very concerned about the 2010 elections.

Given the recent behavior of these entrenched despotic, partisan hacks and tyrants in our US Congress referring to We, The People as “Mobs” should be chilling and cause the hair on the back of your neck to stand up.

These people are not concerned with their standing in the polls. They are not afraid of protest demonstrations. They have their PLAN to stay in power, come hell or high water.

Their PLAN has already been tested and they won!!

We need only to look South to the Marxist tactics used by Chavez in Venezuela, Ortega in Nicaragua, Morales in Bolivia, Zelaya in Honduras.

Then look to the North… FRANKEN in MINNESOTA.

If they can succeed in electing an unqualified, radical SNL clown, re-electing any entrenched Leftist such as Boxer, Pelosi, Dodd, Frank, Leahy, et al is a done deal. All they have to do is mobilize ACORN and Union thugs to their districts, then hire the other useful Marxist idiot, Jimmy Carter to declare a “fair and legal” election.

The Conservative short-term focus and long-term strategy should be to expose ACORN and Union tactics and thuggery. ACORN has been indicted in state after state. What is the status of prosecutions??

These are the Brownshirts. Stop Taxpayer’s funding of ACORN now.

Forget reacting to the daily diversionary antics of the useful idiots like Gibbs or Biden. Focus on stopping ACORN and UNION thuggery or the 2010 elections will be HIJACKED and LOST to Obami and his the Marxists Thugs!!!

rdman| 9.27.09 @ 12:12PM

Oh, forgot this...

Even if we expose and defang ACORN & Union corruption, Obami and his crew will find a way to fabricate/manufacture some sort of national crisis, then declare Martial Law. They have already laid the groundwork.

Then what do We the People do????

Margie| 9.27.09 @ 2:18PM

Let the Kenyan keep speaking. The more he blathers on, the worse it gets for him. Please don't stop.

Anthony| 9.25.09 @ 2:12PM

Richard; Unfortunately it's not that simple. The more this arrogant, pompus and ignorant fool preens on the international stage, the more dangerous it becomes for all civilized nations.
Iran just kicked Obama in the ass big time and the same with all those lefties in government who told us Iran's intentions were banal.
The media says Iran gave the finger to the West. If this was Bush, they would have said Iran gave the finger to Bush. We are in deep trouble with leftist fools in charge.

Ray| 9.25.09 @ 11:32AM

"Mr. Medvedev promising, for the first time publicly, that Russia would be amenable to tougher sanctions." Promises, promises. Where was Medvedev when Obama, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and, French President Nicolas Sarkozy demanded that Iran open it's uranium processing plants or face stricter sanctions? I believe he was in the audience, watching, instead of join them, as he promised. So much for his promises.

Obama traded security for a promise, a promise that was not, and never will be, fulfilled. What say ye to that?

realist| 9.25.09 @ 12:48PM

ray....we have gone down this road many times. the Russians are already selling anti-air defense systems to the Iranians. they have economic interests that far supercede getting along with a narcist who they know can be easily duped. they also know...the Prez is steadily giving away the source of American power each day - the wealth and spirit of this nation.

Ray| 9.25.09 @ 11:34AM

Opps, this should read: "Iran open it's uranium processing plants for UN inspection." My Bad!

davelnaf| 9.25.09 @ 11:40AM

Never has a more egotistical and narcissistic individual been in the White House, a place that has seen more than its share of them. Obama's UN speech was something only dictators and the adoring left could appreciate. The rest of us, meaning the majority of the country, have begun to wonder if it is even possible for a presidency to be worst than Jimmy Carter's.

Kurt| 9.26.09 @ 3:32PM

Where was the majority last November. Many still believe that polishing special interests is good policy for them. I believe the chickens have come home to roost on that one.

Margie| 9.27.09 @ 2:44PM

I get your point about the voters not voting, and that that is a major problem, believe me. I vote in every primary and every election, and I always vote Republican. I voted for McCain even though I knew he wasn't a conservative in every way. I realized that if I didn't vote at all that my vote would be going to you-know-who. I understand the utter frustration with "the voters" completely though. They want to vote Republican but are so sick and tired of the party putting forth "moderate" Republicans and supporting them with money & resources. I believe the larger problem lies therein.

Rmm| 9.25.09 @ 12:19PM

Now I get it! The shovel ready slogan was prepping us for what was coming. An avalanche of Ospeak that is burying us in the Omnipotent Ones verbiage, gasp!, I'm suffocating, grab your shovel , start digging.

jibjab| 9.26.09 @ 8:08AM

Yup! The S**T is indeed getting deep. We all need to be shovel ready!

Al Adab| 9.25.09 @ 12:26PM

Once upon a time, the great Democratic party stood for such as "pay any price, bear any burden, support any friend, oppose any foe" in the defense of liberty.

Now with his UN performance, President Al Naqis has stood that proud tradition on its head. Now we pander to any foe, betray any friend all in the name of Change.

Where once the flame of liberty burned bright, now a fog bound statist darkness descends on the land. A once shinning city on a hill is become a faltering lamp.

History will tell if citizens can recapture the legacy of America or whether future generations will curse us for our failure.

Kurt| 9.26.09 @ 3:34PM

Once upon a time before FDR.

wbheff| 9.25.09 @ 12:33PM

In re, "This Administration has already determined that it will win the next election." And one way to ensure that outcome, would be to create a "crisis," that would "justify" "suspending" the election. This might even happen next year.

Jerry| 9.25.09 @ 12:50PM

There's nothing special about Obama--he's just your garden variety narcissist--like most Liberals.

Kurt| 9.26.09 @ 3:37PM

Not garden variety at all, for he is good looking, engaging, well spoken when teleprompted, and unlike most liberals, he is very ambitious.

Margie| 9.27.09 @ 6:13PM

"well spoken when teleprompted,"

Ha! Very funny. But you are right. He is NOT garden variety. He is cold and calculating. Only out for one thing. The Socialization of America. And he'll crush anybody in his way.

Curtis Rasmussen| 9.25.09 @ 1:42PM

His healthcare program will be 'shovel ready' as soon as it passes. More of the elderly, infirmed, and disabled will be shoveled right into the ground.

The arrogance from the capital is astounding on this issue. "No, we don't have to know what's in the bill. No, we don't have to come clean on the costs. Yes, we will shove it down your throats even though a majority don't want it."

NLLC| 9.25.09 @ 1:46PM

Think Nero. Narcissistic, head held high, surrounded by sycophants, looking down on his "subjects", fisted arm in the air with thumb down (as in death to America), fiddling while America burns, dreaming of his new empire, "Obamaland".

Old Banker| 9.25.09 @ 2:17PM

Would not the appropriate Polonius quote be, "Neither a borrower nor a lender be"?

Mr. President, take heed.

JP| 9.25.09 @ 2:38PM

Our President's time preening before the cameras are numbered. In 4 months, the President will pass the 1 year mark of his term. The markers are already coming due. He wasted 8 months doing photo ops and press confrences when he should have attended Afghanistan, economy, and not to mention get some kind of coalition built to reform both Social Security and Medicare.

By January, unemployment will probably surpass 10%, the defecits will continue to balloon, and things could well get beyond critical in Afghanistan. By that point, his poll numbers will plummet. Even Axelrod will notice that it is not a good idea for The Anointed One to show himself in public.

But by then, the WH will announce that the President will be spending the next 8 months in Bermuda working with the UN on establishing Nirvana not just on earth, but the entire Universe.

Everly Waverly| 9.25.09 @ 3:04PM

I here and now proclaim: "I didn't vote for Barack Hussein Obama II, nope, couldn't do it". And here's the the question I ask, "What were you idiots thinking, it was obvious, the man is a charlatan-fraud, with no qualifications to run the United States?" The people who voted for him were so taken they would willingly set America back 4 years, yup, just vote for the Marxist, and it wasn't obvious to the you, you can't be serious!!!

Louis Jenkins| 9.25.09 @ 5:10PM

I have asked the same question. A poll worker at the local election office recently said he would no longer work an election. Voters were showing up with pre-marked ballots, and many were wearing Messiah T-shirts. When they called the state elections office they were told not to do anything about it. Chicago politiks, ACORN voter fraud, and a flaccid election commission. What a combo!
Get used to it. I am beginning to believe that all elections are rigged in some manner or another. How else do we keep getting the same ol' stuff every election? Obama had no qualifications, but plenty of face time from the liberal (now state ran) news media. Some of whom I know who voted for the guy now have buyer's remorse.

Kurt| 9.26.09 @ 3:41PM

We keep getting the same old crap because voters believe the government is either going to (often true) or should be, doing something for them. Especially the FED's with their ability to make money at will.

Anthony| 9.25.09 @ 3:23PM

So where are all those smarmy Ivy League leftists in the State Department and CIA who only months ago said that what Iran revealed yesterday was not and could not be happening?? Looks like Bush was not the bumbler they said he was, suprise, suprise.
I think it's about damn time we take these clowns out of their cushy offices and waterboard them!!!
The left cannot be trusted with anything other than dog walking.

Louis Jenkins| 9.25.09 @ 5:12PM

Anthony, I love and respect my two Boston Terriers too much to entrust them to liberals. In fact, most dogs, including them, are more noble than libs.

jibjab| 9.26.09 @ 8:12AM

My corgi can smell a liberal at 10 feet and wouldn't go with them with a steak tied around their neck! Or a dead fish (emmanuel) either.

Margie| 9.26.09 @ 2:06PM

BobSledd| 9.26.09 @ 6:43AM

In 9 months, this man has:
1: Exploded our National Indebtedness, burying us, and our children on debt as far as the eye can see...This hinders our ability to grow as an economy and to pay for Defense, atht e expense of Grand Social programs.
2: Is 90% of the way toward altering 20% of our economy (thru imposition of National Health care) and destyoing the best most innovative forces in Medicine the world has ever seen.
3: Thrown 60 years worth of alliances and allies under the bus..Poland, Czechoslovakia,Israel,South America etc...
4: Has virtually taken over the Auto business by executive fiat and thrown out CEO's and installed puppets, and pandering to the Unions that helped elect him, running roughshod over Bondholders who had 1st claim, now have zero.
5: Has seen ACORN exposed for what it is. Criminals and thugs who "rig" elections thru voter fraud.
6: Is surrendering our dominant National Security to pay for socialist utopian plans.
This has likely left Israel NO CHOICE but to attack Iran and the unkown consequences of what that will bring
7: Has declared "he" wants a "nuclear free" world. This has caused President Sarkozy of France to call him "naive" and has caused Brazil to publicly state "they" now NEED nuclear weapons.
8: Is well on the way to creating class conflict here at home between theose who pay tax, and those who are beneficiaries of government transfer payments, and the young and the elderly.
(Last night I saw Paul Krugman and Elliot Spitzer talking on TV about the "fair" level of taxation. They did not blink at 70-90% taxation levels as being "Fair" and Righteous)
We are surely in for a rough next 3 years.

The world we knew and could deal with in at least "some" certainty is no more.
Under this President and Congress, we are no longer the beacon, friend or DEFENDER of democracy.
We cozy up to thugs like Chavez, we want to "talk with no preconditions" to Iran, we put in jeopardy the brave Israelis, Poles and Czechs by bowing to Putin and his thugs.
In short, we have, in less than 1 year, rearranged the chess board and where the music stops, no one knows.
By running up this massive debt virtually overnight, we have weakened our ability to pay for Defense.
We WILL,under this Administration, reduce if not totally collapse our Nuclear umbrella of defense for Japan, Israel, South America,
Eastern Europe, and ourselves here at home. They, and we, will then be vulnerable to extortion from the likes of Iran or Russia, and will have no choice BUT TO acquire nukes themselves.
THAT would be the Law of Unintended Consequences of the U.S. living in a fantasy world of utopia.
A famous American was quite correct when he said:
Speak soflty, but CARRY A BIG STICK.
That kept us free and thriving for over 100 years now.
Alas, our leaders are babbling foolishly and throwing away our sticks, and where this will take us is likely not good.

Kurt| 9.26.09 @ 3:55PM

AMEN brother! I would like to see Obama, Micheal Moore, Sean Penn, and a host of others, striped to their shorts and dropped off in a Venezuelan slum. Has any one considered Obama is a world-class con artist. Obama has lied from alpha to omega about Health Care Reform. Obama-Care is a scam and a con job by Obama and the liberals to loot and pillage the health care industry to replace the money not being skimmed out of the failing Social Security and Medicaid / Medicare systems.
Now for anyone's amusement, here are the facts....

Roughly 70 years ago, FDR had a problem. He had created a whole alphabet soup of governmental agencies to make as many people as possible financially dependent on the benevolence of FDR. The problem thus arose was how to pay his minions and suck-ups. He came up with a Ponzi scheme where the public was forced to pay into a retirement account and at the age of 65 they could with the benevolence of the federal government draw from the Social Security accounts. The financially horrid truth was most people died at age 61 and so never would receive a penny. But for the federal government the scheme produced a bountiful surplus of money as there was a ratio of 20 pay-ins to 1 pay-out. Even better for the federal government was a ever rising population base which insured a increasing amount of money to be skimmed off. Life was good for FDR and his successors as the federal government controlled the scam from the pay-in rates and charges to the pay-outs to the beneficiaries. To complete the scam everyone but the political elite must be part of the scam by law.

Ponzi scams have a simple financial structure. Pay-ins minus Pay-outs equals money skimmed. There lies the 3 fundamental flaws of the scheme. (1st) Pay-outs must never exceed Pay-ins. (2nd) The money skimmed off must never exceed the difference between the Pay-outs and Pay-ins. (3rd) Finally for a ever increasing money to be skimmed condition, there must be ever more numerous suckers brought into the scam. FDR thought with the Social Security scheme all three conditions would never occur. It never occurred to him the US Federal Government would violate all three conditions. It certainly never occurred to him there was a fourth flaw in his scheme.

The fourth flaw was the worst flaw of all. It never occurred to the economists of the day there was a difference in government and private spending. There really is a difference in capital investment and spending money on more bureaucrats. Certainly no one knew or mentioned government income and spending was a destroyer of monetary value. In short every dollar sent to government was one dollar taken out of the private economy and therefor destroyed. It was not surprising the high capital requirement industries were first destroyed thus creating the Rust Belt States. Now the middle and low capital requirement going down the governmental drain. It never occurred to FDR he was creating the conditions for economic destruction of the US industry and therefor high value jobs and job income.

By wrecking the US industrial economy the Federal Government violated the third Ponzi condition. The Federal Government insured there would be a decreasing Ponzi Pay-in as a function of time. As a function of time the monetary value of american jobs decreased, decreasing the Social Security income per job over time.
Also aborting babies insured there would be fewer people coming into the Social Security system as a function of time. Consider that the 60 million aborted children would have saved the Social Security system when they reached productive age. As a result of the Federal Government actions there was less people with lower value jobs restricting income into the Ponzi scam as a function of time.

By borrowing more money than the Federal Government takes in violates the second Ponzi condition. By borrowing against the Social Security income the Federal Government is taking more money out of the scam than can be sustained. The net result is to decrease the value of the currency used in the Ponzi scam.

Finally, Congress violated the first Ponzi condition by increasing benefits to gain political support. Every one loves a Santa Claus and Congress could not resist as it was free money to them. Each "gift" seemed small considered one by one but over time they added up.

As a result the Social Security and related Medicaid / Medicare Ponzi scheme are failing. Both will cease generating money for the Federal Government in a few years. The gig is up for the Federal Government and they are out of time. The Federal Government needs a new income stream to replace what they soon lose. Obama and the Liberals hope that Obama-Care will be that replacement.

Obama-Care is the standard Ponzi format. Force everyone into it. Maximize the income stream by requiring the maximum supportable cost per person and minimizing the pay-out by restricting health care to a minimum. Skim off the resulting difference in Pay-in and Pay-out and spend the resulting money on the Federal Bureaucracy and the public sector within. Time is running out for the US Federal Government and they know it. The only rational alternative solution is for the Federal Government to cut spending somewhere from 25% to 60%. That will not happen as the public sector unions will revolt at any spending cut.

Dixie,
Hats off to your post. There is so much information out there for for average citizen to see, yet they continue voting for the Lib candidates, because as Kurt posted, they think Gov. will take care of them. Some Repubs won't vote unless the candidate is exactly what they want, thus giving their vote away. We are becoming a Socialist country faster than you can say Gestapo.

Thank you for your kind reply. Sometimes when I am talking to liberals I feel like the proverbial sighted man addressing a field of root crops. Yes I know that was a mixed metaphor but an interesting vision. Thanks again, you were very kind.
