Will Palin Endorse Cain?

Now that Sarah Palin has announced she won’t run for the GOP nomination, the question now becomes which Republican, if any, she will endorse. After all, she indicated in her statement that she intended to “be more effective in a decisive role to help other true public servants to office – from the nation’s governors to Congressional seats and the Presidency.”

I can’t see Palin endorsing Mitt Romney given her criticisms of Romneycare and his stance on the debt ceiling.

Nor can I see Palin endorsing Rick Perry given her criticisms of crony capitalism and the HPV vaccine.

If Palin is going to endorse a candidate it will be someone popular amongst Tea Partiers. Which means Michele Bachmann, Ron Paul or Herman Cain.

One could make an argument that Palin is more in sync with Michele Bachmann. Will Palin help revive her flagging campaign? Or will Palin steer clear of a sinking ship?

Could Palin give her blessings to Ron Paul? She did support Rand Paul’s Senate candidacy in Kentucky. But there’s a difference between endorsing a Paul in a Senate primary and endorsing a Paul in a presidential primary. While Palin and Paul have similar views on domestic issues they differ sharply on foreign policy especially concerning Israel. Would Ron Paul ever wear a U.S.-Israel flag lapel?

Then there’s Herman Cain. Palin did raise eyebrows last week by referring to him as “the flavor of the week.” But she added that “Herman Cain is the one up there who doesn’t look like he’s part of that permanent political class…he came from a working class family. He’s had to make it on his own all these years. We respect that.”

If that isn’t an endorsement, it isn’t far from one. Now a lot can happen between now and the primaries but I don’t think this will be the last time we hear a kind word for Cain from Palin.
