Who Keeps MLK’s Dream From Being Fulfilled?
by

Last year marked the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr’s “I Have a Dream” speech. At the time, I wrote a piece about an excerpt from Dr. King’s speech which implored his people not to drink from the cup of bitterness and hatred. Sadly, the likes of John Lewis, Harry Belafonte, Julian Bond, Oprah Winfrey, Reverend Al Sharpton and President Obama have all seen to fit not only to drink from that cup, but to continue to refill it.

I spent this evening writing an article (which will hopefully be up tomorrow) about President Obama’s latest complaint to The New Yorker that some people dislike him because he’s a black President. It seems that President Obama cannot fathom that people might dislike him because of his performance in office and might actually be judging him by the content of his character or lack thereof.

It is attitudes like those of President Obama and others who drink from the cup of bitterness and hatred who prevent Dr. King’s dream from being fulfilled.
