The Academy Award nominations just came out this morning.
Of the nine films nominated, I’ve only seen Moneyball and had the same problems with it as I had with the book. Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill received Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor nominations for their roles in the film, respectively.
I have been told by a number of people that Midnight in Paris is Woody Allen’s best movie in years and have also heard good things about The Artist as well as Hugo although I have no plans to see them. Aside from seeing a marathon of Marx Brothers movies at The Brattle on New Year’s Day, I rarely go to the cinema more than once or twice a year.
The only reason I am watching the Oscars is because Billy Crystal is back as master of ceremonies.
