I watched Piers Morgan’s entire interview of former U.S. Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell which aired last night. As you are probably aware, O’Donnell abruptly ended the interview after he asked her about gay marriage. She was on the show to promote her recently released autobiography, Troublemaker.
Curiously, his website only broadcasts the second half of the interview. After having watched the entire interview, it is clear to me that O’Donnell was miffed with him from the moment he aired a clip from an old MTV show called Sex in the ’90s in which she spoke out against masturbation. Given that we are less than a year removed from the Senate race, it does seem rather curious to me that Morgan would open up the segment with a clip that was broadcast nearly twenty years ago.
That said, I don’t think O’Donnell handled herself very well nor do I think her handlers handled the situation well either. If Morgan’s recent interview of Ann Coulter is any indication, O’Donnell and her people should have known he was going to be cheeky with her and they ought to have prepared accordingly preferably with good humor. Interestingly, O’Donnell did display some humor on Twitter stating, “I only agreed to go on the Piers Morgan Show because he promised not to hack my cell phone.” She would have been far better of if she had said that on the air instead of walking off the set. Unfortunately, O’Donnell once again ended up drawing attention to herself for all the wrong reasons.
