Brad Ellsworth, the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Indiana, has been touting his years as sheriff of Vanderburgh County in his ads and campaign literature. One TV spot even shows footage of him in his old uniform. But the commercials downplay Ellsworth’s two terms in Congress, during which he voted for Obamacare, the stimulus, and TARP.

Brad Ellsworth’s first TV ad, you might think the two-term Indiana Democrat who is running for the Senate spends his time in a squad car and has never set foot on Capitol Hill.” And that’s exactly the point: Ellsworth is trying to run as the man without a legislative record he was when he was elected in 2006.
