The Bannon v. Kushner Brouhaha
by

A couple points about this stupid, public, media-fueled feud by two people who should know better and are undermining their boss and father-in-law in the name of power:

  1. Kushner shouldn’t have the role (even if I like some of his views) because one should never hire someone who can’t be fired.
  2. Bannon doesn’t need a seat at the National Security Council.
  3. Kushner doesn’t need a seat at the NSC, either.
  4. Rick Perry should be on the NSC and it’s good he’s been added.
  5. The ideology espoused by the non-relative will almost always be trumped by the relative who is married to one’s daughter. Blood > business and all that.
  6. President Trump is setting himself up for future difficulty with his family arrangements.

Jared Kushner is a New York liberal Democrat. I do not count on good things happening if power tips irrevocably in his direction.

A problem that’s outside the White House: Congressional leadership being lead by moderates, putting forth crap legislation, that’s bound to get everyone run over. And by run over, I mean swept out of office.

Ironically, this mushy garbage is making it difficult for President Trump to be decisive on economic and domestic policy.

To sum up, the only folks who seem to be steadfastly and concretely helping the President are as follows:

  1. His department secretaries
  2. Nikki Haley
  3. Secretary of State Tillerson
  4. The military chiefs

Everyone else is gumming up the works of governance. Get it together, guys. When you make yourselves look like asses, you make your boss look like an ass, too.
