The Suffolk poll — a reputable barometer of Massachusetts public opinion — shows Brown up 50 percent to 46 percent. The biggest problem Brown now faces is the possibility that such poll results have awakened a sleeping giant in the form of the Democratic turnout machine. It was reported yesterday that Democratic-aligned groups are now outspending Republicans 2-to-1, a sign that the Democrats’ get-out-the-vote operations won’t look past this race.
