Actress Ruby Dee passed away yesterday of natural causes. She was 91.

Dee starred in both Broadway and on the silver screen most notably in A Raisin in the Sun. She received her only Academy Award nomination in 2007 for her role in American Gangster starring Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe. Dee was married to fellow actor Ossie Davis for nearly 60 years until his death in 2005.

The role I remember Dee best for was her portrayal of Rachel Robinson in The Jackie Robinson Story.
