Congratulations to Jimmy Rollins for passing Mike Schmidt on the Philadelphia Phillies all-time hit list. On Saturday, Rollins collected his 2,235th hit when he stroked a single in the Phillies 7-4 victory over the Chicago Cubs. Anytime you pass Mike Schmidt you’ve done something good.
The question now is how long will Rollins remain in Philadelphia. Although the Phillies are only 5 1/2 games out of the first in the NL East, Philadelphia is expected to be sellers rather than buyers during the trade deadline unless they somehow leapfrog the Braves, Nationals, and Marlins. Will Rollins, Utley, Howard, and Ruiz end up in different uniforms at the end of July?
Even if Rollins finishes 2014 elsewhere, he is one of the best to ever wear a Phillies uniform.
