A few days ago I wrote a piece about the Pittsburgh Pirates abrupt decline after being atop the NL Central last month.
This afternoon they fell to the San Diego Padres 7-3 and have now lost 10 games in a row. The Bucs are 1-11 since the 19 inning debacle in Atlanta and 3-15 since they were last in first place on July 19th. They went 0-7 on their homestand being swept by the Padres and the Chicago Cubs both second division teams. It doesn’t get any easier as they go on a six game road trip against the San Francisco Giants and the Milwaukee Brewers. Speaking of the Brewers, the Pirates now find themselves in fourth place, ten games back of the Brew Crew in the NL Central.
Well, it was fun while it lasted.
