Joe Lawler asks if Steve Jobs was the greatest Arab American ever?
He then links to a Wikipedia page listing prominent Arab Americans. For his part, Lawler says the “pickings are slim” citing George Mitchell, John Sununu, Edward Said and Mitch Daniels from that list. I must admit I didn’t know Daniels was of Arabic origin. Nor for that matter was I aware that football great Doug Flutie had a Lebanese father.
Lawler concludes by asking if there’s anyone missing.
I would include retired U.S. General John Abizaid, Ralph Nader and the late Danny Thomas. Although Thomas is remembered as a great entertainer he also founded the world renowned St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital nearly half a century ago which has helped countless children with pediactric cancers and other catastrophic diseases free of charge.
