NY Times on Thwarted Ft. Hood Plot
by

Earlier this afternoon I commented on the arrest of Private Nasser Abdo at a motel near Fort Hood with bomb making material.

Scarcely 48 hours ago, TAS posted my piece about how The New York Times fell all over itself to describe Anders Behring Breivik in various headlines as “right-wing,” “Christian,” “extremist” and “anti-Muslim” while still only describing Nidal Malik Hasan as an “Major” twenty months after he killed 13 of his fellow soldiers while screaming “Allahu Akbar!!!” So naturally curious what the headline would be from The Gray Lady in light of Abdo’s arrest and she did not disappoint:

U.S. Soldier Arrested Near Fort Hood

The story does cite CNN about how “Islamic extremist literature” was found in Abdo’s backpack. But make no mistake. The New York Times will minimize Abdo’s religious affiliation and motivations as they have done with Hasan. Needless to say, if Hasan were Christian (or Christian and conservative), the New York Times would put it above the fold on Page 1.
