No, Trump Did Not Call On “Second Amendment People” to Kill Hillary
by

Get ready to be shocked.

I am going to defend Donald Trump.

During a rally in North Carolina this afternoon, Trump said the following:

If she (Hillary) get to pick her judges, nothing you can do folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is. I don’t know.

You can see the video below and judge for yourself. This includes the above remarks as well as remarks about the NRA which most of us would consider to be “Second Amendment folks.”

The response from Hillary’s campaign and Democrats came faster than a speeding bullet.

Hillary campaign manager Robby Mook said, “What Trump is saying is dangerous. A person seeking to be President of the United States should not suggest violence in any way.”

Connecticut Democrat Senator Chris Murphy took to Twitter and wrote, “This isn’t play. Unstable people with powerful guns and an unhinged hatred for Hillary are listening to you.”

Eric Swalwell, a Democrat Congressman from California, called upon the Secret Service to investigate Trump’s comment. “Donald Trump suggested someone kill Sec. Clinton,” wrote Stallwell.

Donald Trump suggested no such thing.

“Second Amendment people” do not need to resort to violence and aren’t in the habit of doing so. “Second Amendment people” are law abiding citizens who defend gun rights through the political process via organizations such as the NRA. Even if Hillary is elected President, the NRA will vigorously oppose her judicial nominees through peaceful means as has been their practice for several decades.

So Senator Murphy is smearing law abiding gun owners when he speaks of “unstable people with powerful guns and an unhinged hatred for Hillary”. Just because someone owns a gun and doesn’t like Hillary doesn’t make them a murderer. Given the high ownership of guns in Vermont, I think Senator Murphy insulted a lot of Bernie Sanders supporters.

I would add that the person who was responsible for the deaths of 49 people at a gay nightclub in Orlando was not “a Second Amendment person”, but rather an ISIS terrorist. Let there be noo doubt there are a lot of people in Hillary’s camp who want people to forget that the homophobic, pro-Taliban, anti-American father of the ISIS terrorist was present at her rally last night in Florida. Let there further be no doubt this development explains the urgency of Hillary’s response and those of her fellow Democrats.

Of course, this doesn’t make me change my mind about Donald Trump one iota. This is, after all, a man who has encouraged violence at his rallies, offered to pay the legal fees of his supporters who engage in violence and threatened riots at the Republican National Convention if he did not prevail. This is also the man who said he could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue, shoot a bunch of people and it wouldn’t affect his polling.

With all that said, Donald Trump is guilty of saying many stupid things. However, saying that “Second Amendment people” should shoot Hillary Clinton isn’t one of them.
