According to the latest poll, the race for governor of Massachusetts breaks down 34 percent for Democratic incumbent Deval Patrick, 29 percent for independent challenger Tim Cahill, and 27 percent for Republican nominee Charlie Baker. This is the first public poll that has shown Cahill ahead of Baker — albeit within the margin of error — and the contest remains tight all around. Cahill, the incumbent state treasurer, has led former Republican candidate Christy Mihos for some time, but Baker knocked Mihos out of the race at the GOP state convention this weekend.
