I’ll Tell You What’s Zany

Yesterday, in an interview with The New York Times, Mitt Romney called Newt Gingrich “zany.” To be precise, he stated:

Zany is not what we need in a president. Zany is great in a campaign. It’s great on talk radio. It’s great in print, it makes for fun reading, but in terms of a president, we need a leader, and a leader needs to be someone who can bring Americans together. A leader needs to be someone of sobriety and stability.

You can watch the interview here.

So not only did Romney call Newt zany, he effectively called Rush Limbaugh and Laura Ingraham zany as well. Nice way to win over conservative voters.

Well, if Newt is as zany as Romney suggests he is then he should have no problem overmatching him in a one-on-one debate. Except Romney won’t debate Newt mano-a-mano. That’s zany.

But then again what do you expect of someone who throws a hissy fit because Bret Baier was “overly aggressive” in his questioning of him? That’s zany.

I doubt Romney will have the guts to call Newt zany to his face at tonight’s debate in Sioux City. In fact, I’d be willing to bet on it. But not for $10,000. That would be zany.
