Howard Dean told a National Journal panel he would be “quietly rooting” for a government shutdown if he was still chairman of the Democratic National Committee. “I know who’s going to get blamed — we’ve been down this road before,” Dean said this morning.”From a partisan point of view, I think it would be the best thing in the world to have a shutdown.” National Journal then assures us, “”He added that as a statesman, he is not rooting for a shutdown because of its harmful effect on the country.”
Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) responded on Twitter, “No wonder we can’t get the Dems to agree on a budget, they’re ‘rooting for’ a shutdown.”
