An unnamed French official is claiming that Mohammed Merah, the man responsible for the deaths of seven people, has no ties to al Qaeda.
This comes after Afghan officials said that Merah was not the Mohammed Merah who escaped from an Afghan jail with the help of the Taliban in 2008.
Yet Merah had twice visited Afghanistan but was able to convince French officials he was just a tourist. Who the hell goes to a war zone as a tourist? I’m surprised Merah didn’t tell them he went to Afghanistan for its healing waters.
I find it hard to believe that Merah didn’t meet someone in Afghanistan who steered him towards the deadly path of jihad.
