The Motive of Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez is Abundantly Clear
by

Four Marines are killed by a Muslim terrorist and the mainstream media cannot fathom why. Here is the Associated Press

The man who authorities say killed four Marines in an attack on a military recruiting centre and another U.S. military site was a 24-year-old, Kuwait-born engineer who had not been on the radar of federal authorities until the bloodshed.

Beyond that, little is known about Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez of Hixson, Tenn., or what motivated his rampage. Federal authorities were looking into the possibility it was an act of terrorism, but say there is no evidence yet that anyone else was involved — or that the public is in any danger.

Officials have said they do not know why the shooter targeted the facilities and have not said what weapons he used.

While I was writing my thoughts on the shooting yesterday, Abdulazeez’s identity hadn’t yet been revealed. But considering that four Marines were killed during attacks at two separate military facilities, I made a point of saying that this was hardly the first time soldiers had been targeted by Muslim terrorists. I specifically cited the Fort Hood attack, the attack at Little Rock Army Recruitment Center in June 2009, as well as the killing of two American airmen at the Frankfurt International Airport in March 2011. I also made note of attacks made by jihadists against French, British, and Canadian soldiers. The Chattanooga attack is now the latest in the long line of attacks against U.S. and Allied soldiers by Muslim jihadists.

As the mainstream media searches for a motive, let me remind them that it was only last September that ISIS called upon its “lone wolves” living in the West to kill American and Allied soldiers. The edict suggested that aspiring jihadis use Facebook and LinkedIn to “search for soldiers, find their town, photos of them, look for addresses in Yellowbook or something. Then show up and slaughter them.”

Let us also consider this portion of Osama bin Laden’s 1998 fatwa:

All these crimes and sins committed by the Americans are a clear declaration of war on Allah, his messenger, and Muslims. And ulema have throughout Islamic history unanimously agreed that the jihad is an individual duty if the enemy destroys the Muslim countries. This was revealed by Imam Bin-Qadamah in “Al- Mughni,” Imam al-Kisa’i in “Al-Bada’i,” al-Qurtubi in his interpretation, and the shaykh of al-Islam in his books, where he said: “As for the fighting to repulse [an enemy], it is aimed at defending sanctity and religion, and it is a duty as agreed [by the ulema]. Nothing is more sacred than belief except repulsing an enemy who is attacking religion and life.”

On that basis, and in compliance with Allah’s order, we issue the following fatwa to all Muslims:

The ruling to kill the Americans and their allies — civilians and military — is an individual duty for every Muslim who can do it in any country in which it is possible to do it, in order to liberate the al-Aqsa Mosque and the holy mosque [Mecca] from their grip, and in order for their armies to move out of all the lands of Islam, defeated and unable to threaten any Muslim. This is in accordance with the words of Almighty Allah, “and fight the pagans all together as they fight you all together,” and “fight them until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah.”

At this moment, we don’t know if Abdulazeez got his inspiration from al Qaeda or ISIS. We also don’t know if he was recruited online, by someone in his mosque or during his travels to Jordan. But his motive is abundantly clear. Jihadists consider the presence of the U.S. military and the military of its allies on Muslim lands to be a declaration of war against Allah and have declared that it is duty of every Muslim to kill Americans and their allies be they soldiers or civilians. At some point, Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez became convinced it was his duty to kill American soldiers and yesterday he did just that.
