Romney Campaign Cites MA Health Plan As Positive
by

Mitt Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul hit back against a controversial ad by a pro-Obama super PAC, but her defense has created a controversy of its own. The ad blames Romney for the death of a steelworker’s wife. Saul responds that she would have been covered by Romneycare:

To that point, you know, if people had been in Massachusetts under Governor Romney’s health care plan, they would have had health care. There are a lot of people losing their jobs and their health care in President Obama’s economy.

Saul said this on Fox News. A lot of people are saying she went off message, but I’m not so sure. There are those who think Romney would benefit politically from embracing his Massachusetts health care record, even if it blurs the distinction with Barack Obama on the issue. This may be the beginning of the campaign testing that theory.
