Report: ISIS Has Industrial Scale Weapons Manufacturing Capabilities
by

The hits keep coming.

The Islamic State group was manufacturing weapons in and around Mosul on an industrial scale with products largely purchased in bulk from Turkey, according to a report published by an arms research group Wednesday.

The findings show that IS maintained a “robust and reliable” supply chain between Turkey and Iraq that allowed the fighters to produce tens of thousands of weapons, the London-based Conflict Armaments Research said. The group’s researchers studied IS weapons found at manufacturing facilities and on the battlefield during the Iraqi operation to retake Mosul that is underway.

As Iraqi forces advance, the extremists are losing the physical capacity to manufacture weapons on an industrial scale, but the research group’s executive director James Bevan warned that highly trained fighters will take their expertise with them as they retreat.

“Given that this group is so organized, they clearly see the writing on the wall in Mosul,” Bevan told The Associated Press, saying he believes IS has already moved its highest trained bomb-makers out of Mosul and into Syria and southern Turkey.

It is going to take a while to even attempt to repair the nightmare that Barack Obama will be leaving behind because of his amateurish approach to foreign policy. His most infamous legacy may very well end up being the Islamic State, the terrorists he was repeatedly warned about (even mainstream media outlets frequently reported that) but whose rise he still maintains surprised him.

The more we find out about ISIS, the more stunning the disconnect between reality on the ground and the reality in President Peace Prize’s head is. They didn’t ramp up industrial scale weapons production capacity overnight. While Obama was being utterly dismissive of the intelligence briefing he was receiving regarding the organization, it was using the lack of attention from the United States wisely and building a terror network that seems to have a longer reach than al-Qaida now.

Obama’s naively ideological way of dealing with terrorism left him almost blind. He recently stated that there have been no terrorist attacks on U.S. soil on his watch, which would certainly come as news to the families of the people who were killed in the attacks listed here. In his mind, attacks committed by one or two people in the name of ISIS or al-Qaida don’t really count. That’s why you hear his administration reflexively belching up the “lone wolf” nonsense immediately after each attack. It’s almost as if he is digging in to convince himself that ISIS still isn’t that strong.

When he leaves office, you can bet that he will suddenly view ISIS as the biggest existential threat the nation faces and that he will blame it all on President Trump. He’s still blaming George W. Bush for everything that happened before him, it’s safe to assume he’ll just switch to Trump for everything going forward.
