In what might have been a seminal moment in American political history, NASCAR driver Brandon Brown won his first race on the circuit over the weekend. Brown took his national series victory Saturday with a win in the Xfinity Series race shortened by darkness at Talladega Superspeedway.
But the race was not the seminal moment. That came in the interview after the race, in which a female NBC Sports anchor noted the rather loud, spirited chant from the fans in the stands and deliberately mistook the ubiquitous “F*ck Joe Biden!” which has become de rigeur in virtually every public gathering in America, as “Let’s Go, Brandon!”
It was a difficult mistake to make, and, as Sen. Ted Cruz said, it was perfectly emblematic of the lengths to which the corporate legacy media will go to push fake news on the American people.
But because lots of Americans who agreed wholeheartedly with the sentiment behind “F*ck Joe Biden!” are still uncomfortable with the loud dropping of F-bombs, “Let’s Go, Brandon!” is the Delta Variant of derisive civil disobedience. Now the whole family can chime in.
And so when Biden traveled to Michigan to shill for his increasingly unlikely nation-killing $3.5 trillion federal spending orgy, he was met by hundreds of protesters yelling “Let’s Go, Brandon!”
As well as the other Bronx cheer.
Biden — and the media propping him up — are now officially the figures of ridicule they always should have been. The “Let’s Go, Brandon!” meme comes within a context which is unmistakable. It’s a stand-in for perhaps the most vulgar and dismissive rejectionist — and justifiably so — outpouring of invective against an American president in close to two decades, and everybody knows it.
And it’s also a direct shot at corporate legacy media for their obvious and shameful lies.
“Let’s Go, Brandon!” ought to scare the living hell out of Democrats everywhere. Because once they’re ridiculing you, and having fun doing it, the game is over. That Team Biden couldn’t get nine months into an administration before the wheels fell off and the country was laughing in their faces is damning.
And those wheels are off. Make no mistake about it.
Quinnipiac University runs polling which has always been just shy of a push-poll for Democrats. The Q-poll sample is generally slanted by several percent to the left and Q-poll questions are often framed to generate a specific result. Republican consultants will tell you often of their irritation with Quinnipiac’s polling.
But Quinnipiac is out with their latest numbers on Biden’s approval rating, and, well …
A new Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday shows just 38 percent of Americans approve of the job Biden is doing, down from 42 percent in the same poll three weeks ago and 50 percent approval in mid-February.
“Battered on trust, doubted on leadership, and challenged on overall competency, President Biden is being hammered on all sides as his approval rating continues its downward slide to a number not seen since the tough scrutiny of the Trump administration,” Quinnipiac polling analyst Tim Malloy said in a statement summarizing the devastating findings.
The poll puts Biden underwater on his handling of every major issue. Approval of the president’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which Quinnipiac put at 65 percent in late May, was down to 48 percent in Wednesday’s poll. Disapproval of Biden’s handling of the pandemic, by contrast, has shot up to 50 percent from 30 percent in late May.
Biden also gets failing marks on the economy (39 percent approval, 55 percent disapproval), foreign policy (34 percent approval, 58 percent disapproval), and taxation (37 percent approval, 54 percent disapproval).
In addition, just 37 percent approve of the job he is doing as commander-in-chief of the armed forces, while 58 percent disapprove.
But the president’s worst issue score comes on his handling of immigration (25 percent approval, 67 percent disapproval) and specifically the ongoing migrant crisis at the US-Mexico border (23 percent approval, 67 percent disapproval).
A plurality of respondents (46 percent) say the administration is not being aggressive enough in deporting immigrants, while just 15 percent say the White House is being too aggressive with immigration enforcement.
Biden still has 80 percent approval among Democrats. He’s down 60-32 with independents and 94-4 with Republicans. The poll release doesn’t give a D-R-I breakdown of those surveyed, so it’s hard to pin down whether things aren’t actually worse than 38-53.

Americans by significant margins now view the Republican Party as better than the Democratic Party at protecting the nation from international threats (54% to 39%, respectively) and at ensuring the nation remains prosperous (50% to 41%). The 15-percentage-point GOP advantage on security matters is its largest since 2015, while its nine-point edge on prosperity is its largest since 2014. Last year, the GOP had a narrow advantage on international matters while the parties were essentially tied on economic matters. More of this change has come from declines in Americans perceiving the Democratic Party as better on these issues than from increases for the Republican Party.
…Americans typically see the Republican Party as more capable on national security matters, but the 15-point gap in favor of the GOP this year is the largest since a 16-point advantage in 2015. The party had an even larger 23-point gap in 2014, a time when the Obama administration was struggling to deal with the rise of the Islamic State in Iraq and renewed Middle East violence, among other issues.

40% of voters say Biden has accomplished less than they expected since taking office in January, up 12 points since June, and matching the share who say the same of congressional Democrats.
The shares of independent and Democratic voters who say Biden has underperformed expectations have doubled over the past three months.
52% of all voters disapprove of Biden’s job performance, his worst rating in a Morning Consult/Politico poll so far.
We’ve talked before in this space about how Team Biden is going down the tubes and how dangerous that is. The drowning man is always a threat to pull his rescuer under the water, and Biden is a man of such low character (as are his handlers) that pulling America down to save themselves is likely a feature rather than a bug in the eyes of the regime.
We said it was likely that as Team Biden failed, the thuggery and totalitarianism and contempt would only grow.
So while you’re delighting in “Let’s Go, Brandon!” at a ball game or a car race, the Justice Department is now contemplating siccing the FBI on moms expressing distaste about Critical Race Theory at school board meetings, which Roger Kimball predicts might be the tipping point for things to get even worse. Team Biden wants to sic the IRS on your bank account. Biden and most of the Democrats on Capitol Hill tacitly approved a George Soros mob chasing Kyrsten Sinema, a Democrat senator, into an Arizona State University bathroom to berate her over her refusal to spend $3.5 trillion on socialist fantasy. After what was quite obviously a leftist publicity stunt in which Facebook “whistleblower,” Hunter Biden laptop story suppressor, and social justice warrior Frances Haugen showed up at Congress with documents proving the social media platform was an outrage engine, Team Biden is now promising to impose online censorship.
The forces of authoritarianism are gathering, undeterred by the ridicule and rejection of the American public.
Can we save our freedoms, or will the Left pull us beneath the waves before the 2022 midterms offer the prospect of a life jacket?
The answer might depend on the state in which you live.
But it also depends on you. Yell it louder.
“Let’s Go, Brandon!”
Or even that other Bronx cheer.
