Well, that didn’t take long.
We didn’t even have a body count yet Sunday morning from an Orlando shooting spree on the part of a guy named Omar, when the Florida League of (Leftist) Women Voters blasted out this email calling for Floridians to badger their elected officials to enact more gun control laws. Not an NCAA record for opportunism, but impressive nonetheless.
The email itself contains the usual non-sequiturs about gun laws and gun violence, dots that no linear thinker could connect. It’s hard to imagine that even Pamela Goodman is dreamy enough to think that Omar would have been filtered out by a background check, or dissuaded from mass murder by a good firearms safety course.
The League describes itself as non-partisan, but those paying attention are not fooled. It certainly isn’t non-ideological. It has whooped up every left phantasm to come down the pike, including the delusion that gun control laws would deter gun crimes, or that the Omars of the world give a rat’s rump about gun laws, or any other, come to that. But, cynical as it may be, Sunday morning was too big an opportunity for the League to pass up.
