Glenn Thrush, Al Franken, and the Bursting Dam

Believe it or not, the tsunami of sexual assault claims hasn’t even started yet. While Congress critters enjoy some family time back in their state, they’re privately sweating it. Families across America are talking about this or that Congressman, actor, reporter, or other hotshot professional who grab-assed their sister, mom, or daughter.  There will be debates at the dinner table.

Should the victim tell her story? Is it irresponsible to stay quiet?

A local Texas herpetologist told me that for every snake a person sees, there’s seven more that are unseen. The likelihood regarding sexual assault allegations against Important Men is an even higher ratio. These industries are filled with drug and alcohol-fueled vipers, but will revealing them matter?

The latest breaking allegations shine the spotlight on Glenn Thrush, political reporter for the New York Times.  He’s been suspended and shuttled off to rehab…for alcohol abuse. Ahem.

Ed Morrissey, HotAir blogger and Minnesota native said this via Twitter, “Something to keep in mind: Franken is one of the most expendable Dems in the Senate. Safe seat (without Franken anyway), Dem gov, several high-ranking Dem women as potential interim appointees. Watch for more demands in MN for his resignation.”

Something to also keep in mind: all this house clearing is to get to President Trump. It’s also to shuttle the Clintons off the stage. The Democrats just didn’t expect so many deviants were in their own house. There’s going to have to be a lot of sweeping out the vermin and it’s not clear that Democrats can survive it. Once that calculation is made, Democrats will decide whether to stick with or boot their perpetrators.

Another problem: Will the perpetrators go, even if booted? The Clintons are shameless. There’d have to be video of Bill and maybe final DNA proof that the kid who claims to be his kid is actually his kid to get them to go away. It’s possible that even then, they’d find a way to stay in the limelight. There’s more claims that Bill is who everyone knows that he is.

Prominent Democrats and journalists have defended Senator Al Franken even as more allegations surface. This time, the women’s champion grabbed the butt of a constituent who wanted a picture with him. She has Facebook proof and talked about the incident when it happened. (Her husband was taking the picture, by the way. Franken is a real charmer.)

The questions of false accusations and mob justice are now timidly being raised. This is, of course, a huge potential problem. How does one get his reputation back after being accused of something so heinous even if the charges are patently false? He doesn’t.

Due process and the presumption of innocence has been scorned by Democrats who pushed regulations that made college men criminals before any evidence was presented. Even Mitt Romney said that a court case didn’t have to happen to prove that someone had done something bad in the court of public opinion:

The charges against George W. Bush presented by Dan Rather were patently false, but they were serious charges. The charges against Rick Perry’s family (remember the racist rock?) were serious, but were false. Actual charges were brought against Rick Perry for political purposes and were false and tossed, but after it was too late. Ted Stevens lost his Senate seat and his reputation from false charges. He was later exonerated.  Tom DeLay, former Speaker of the House and the feared “Hammer,” was cleared on all charges but not before having lost his seat and reputation.  These were not sexual charges against politicians but they were false charges and the thing about even false charges, is that they can hurt a politician’s chance of being elected. That’s why voters question the timing.

Conversely, against Democrats, there’s no end to the list of politicians who’ve demonstrably done wrong and are let off the hook by both the media and their colleagues. Ted Kennedy, “Lion of the Senate,” left a woman to drown. Any other person would be in jail. This is a true charge with no consequences. Then there’s the legend of the Chris Dodd–Ted Kennedy “Waitress Sandwich” where the men sexually assaulted a D.C. area waitress. Isn’t that hilarious?  There are more jovial stories about this wacky duo from the mouth of none other than Carrie Fischer.  No charges were ever filed.  Then there’s Robert Byrd who was a Grand Wizard for the Ku Klux Klan and fine Democrat in good standing till his death. The Kennedys all had alcohol and women issues. Bill Clinton, until last week, was a feminist. Senator Menendez couldn’t find a reporter to cover his malfeasance if he went in disguise and hunted for one of those weaselly wascals himself.

The scales of justice both in court and in the media lean heavily way to one side. It seems to always damage Republicans while Democrats escape unscathed. Republican voters are slow, but they’ve caught on to the rigged game. Thus, many of them don’t care about Roy Moore’s actions even if they’re true. Why? It’s not because these people excuse sexual assault or see it as no big deal (although some few degenerates are okay with his behavior), it’s because they know that Moore represents their political interests and that the media and politicians don’t care about equal justice when it comes to Democrats.

Degrading the culture is inextricably linked to making a mockery of the law and using the law for political ends. It has worked one way for decades.

How many more Al Frankens are in the Senate? How many creeps reside in the House? Snakes aplenty in those parts. There’s more to come, but don’t expect the road to lead to Donald Trump. It will stop where it always stops: at the Democrats’ hypocritical doorstep.
