Let “DJ POTUS” Soundtrack Your Summer
by

Technically, summer’s over. I mean, my Facebook timeline is packed to the gills with “back to school” photos that children clearly don’t want to take but their parents see as necessary to catalogue, lest the kids one day require proof they went to third grade. But the boundaries of reality are never enough to stop President Obama from doing things like, inking nuclear deals with Iran or buying high-waisted denim, so why shouldn’t the President’s Spotfiy playlist be released on the last full weekend of beach season?

Anyway, Barack Obama has made “his” playlists public, and you can download both his “day” and “night” soundtracks, so that you, too, can shamelessly pander to tech cronies with a mixture of old school Motown, new school alternative, rock and roll and Justin Timberlake, carefully crafted with the help of a polling company, designed to literally appeal to everyone.

If hearing Barack Obama break into song hasn’t satisfied your presidential music needs, you can now listen to his playlists on Spotify.

The White House on Friday released two music sets “hand-created” by the president of the United States for daytime and evening listening as part of the launch of a new channel on the popular music-streaming service. And there is more to come.

“You can expect to see the White House share playlists created by people in the White House, as well as playlists curated around events and issues to engage the public,” a White House official said in an email.

This, of course, may mark the first time Lauryn Hill appears on a list compiled by a federal entity that has nothing to do with her evading the IRS. But I digress.

The White House was quick to dub Barack Obama “DJ POTUS,” which can only be met with groans. He is slightly behind, however, in the race for which Democratic politician is posed to produce the single worst playlist in Spotify’s history. That honor still belongs to Hillary Clinton’s woman power playlist from a few months ago. Because nothing says “competent to hold public office” like listening to Ariana Grande.
