Prominent conservatives are splitting in the Republican primary for Senate in Indiana. Yesterday James Dobson endorsed GOP frontrunner Dan Coats. Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) and David Keene of the American Conservative Union endorsed state Sen. Marlin Stutzman, who is running to Coats’ right. And fresh from his Ron Paul endorsement, former Rep. John Hostettler is planning a money bomb on April 22 to, among other things, get this anti-Coats ad on the air.
Coats and Hostettler were running a close race in the Republican poll results leaked last week and perform best in the public poll match-ups against Democratic Senate candidate Brad Ellsworth. Stutzman ran third in the GOP poll and holds a narrower lead over Ellsworth.
