An ad featuring a racist cop killer is attacked.
The Trump campaign has released a new ad featuring convicted cop killer and illegal immigrant Luis Bracamontes. Bracamontes was convicted in February of this year of killing two Sacramento police officers in October of 2014. As he hears the verdict Bracamontes grins, says he’s glad he killed them, and that he wants to kill more.
The liberal media has gone ballistic, saying the ad is “racist.”
What the liberal media, whether over at CNN or in print, seem to conveniently ignore is that in his shooting spree that October night, Bracamontes also shot a nearby motorist, Anthony Holmes, in the face — five times. Holmes survived. And oh yes? There’s a curious fact here that the liberal media is ignoring. Anthony Holmes is black. As is the wife of one of the murdered officers.
A little research and all these liberals playing the race card (comparing the ad to the 1988 pro-Bush commercial on Willie Horton) would have found this account in the Sacramento Bee of the moment Bracamontes was spewing in the court room. It says this:
Then he was allowed to return for the afternoon session and capped off the day by hurling the “N-word” and other racial insults at the final witness of the day, an African-American man who said Bracamontes shot him five times in a failed attempt at a carjacking.
“You’re lucky I didn’t kill you,” Bracamontes said as Anthony Holmes left the witness stand.…
As Holmes left the witness stand, Bracamontes continued his verbal onslaught against Holmes, then directed it toward the families and members of the two juries, which include African-American jurors.
“Black lives don’t matter,” he shouted. “Monkey,” he added as [presiding Judge Steve] White glared in silence until the jurors had left.
Got that, my liberal media friends? Bracamontes yelled the “N-word” and “Monkey” at Anthony Holmes, the black wife of one of the slain officers, and African-Americans on the jury.
Which is to say Bracamontes is a thorough-going racist.
But not a peep of this at CNN. Here’s the headline from their story on the ad.
Trump shocks with racist new ad days before midterms
Read the CNN story by Stephen Collinson. Notice anything? Yes, indeed. There is not a single solitary mention of the fact that Bracamontes shot a black man in the face five times. There is not a single mention that Bracamontes shouted racial slurs at Anthony Holmes, the black wife of the murdered Officer Danny Oliver, and black members of the jury as well.
Such a deliberate and obviously important fact about Bracamontes’ seriously dangerous racism would be left out of this story (and CNN was not alone in doing this) for only one reason: to play the race card. And to ignore a serious problem that has had a direct effect on the African-American community. Take a look at the following headlines from around the country:
Newsweek, 2007: “FEDS: LATINO GANG TARGETED BLACKS”
There’s this, from the far-left Southern Poverty Law Center, also in 2007:
“LATINO GANG MEMBERS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ARE TERRORIZING AND KILLING BLACKS — Acting on orders from the Mexican Mafia, Latino gang members in Southern California are terrorizing and killing blacks.”
From the Los Angeles Times in 2009: “Huge sweeps target Latino gangs that allegedly attacked blacks”
From the Los Angeles Times in 2016: “Latino gang members firebombed black residents to drive them out of Boyle Heights project, prosecutors allege”
On and on and on stories like this go. On one occasion, in a piece in the Los Angeles Times, there was this headline: “Latino leaders’ silence is killing blacks”
That piece, by one Kerman Maddox, a board member of the African-American Summit on Violence Prevention, said, in part, this:
I WILL SAY PUBLICLY what many people are whispering privately in barbershops, soul food restaurants and church parking lots in South Los Angeles. If relations don’t improve between African Americans and Latinos in Southern California, we are headed for a major racial conflict.
Sure, this is multicultural Southern California, where coalition politics is supposed to rule. However, anyone paying attention to what is happening here knows the accuracy of this assessment. Why are Latinos committing violent crimes targeted against African Americans — especially in one neighborhood in the Harbor Gateway area — and why aren’t Latino leaders speaking out against them?
According to The Times, police statistics show that from 1994 to 2005, there were nearly five times as many homicides, assaults and other violent crimes committed by Latinos against African Americans in Harbor Gateway as by African Americans against Latinos.
Again, there is much much more like this out there. Who can forget the story of 17-year-old Jamiel Shaw, the young black youth shot to death out of the blue by Hispanic gang member Pedro Espinoza? Jamiel’s father was so angry that he would later become one of Donald Trump’s staunchest supporters precisely because Trump turned his own spotlight on the younger Shaw’s murder.
But the focus here is that Trump ad, which features the hard fact that illegal immigrant Bracamontes was in the country in the first place back in 2014 when he killed those two policemen. And in their haste to attack Trump, CNN and the rest completely ignore that Bracamontes is a thorough-going hardcore racist who almost shot the black Anthony Holmes to death. And then on the day of his conviction spewed the vilest of racial slurs at Holmes and the other African-Americans present.
There is a problem out there. A serious race problem. And it isn’t with Donald Trump or this ad. It is a very serious problem with, as all those headlines and stories have made clear, “Latinos committing violent crimes against African Americans.” Shockingly, Arizona’s Senator Jeff Flake and Ohio’s Governor John Kasich both condemned the ad. An amazing abandonment by two Republicans of the Party of Lincoln and Jack Kemp. The Washington Post’s Karen Tumulty refused to even link to an ad that she called “racist” — racist because it denounced a hard core racist who shot a black man in the face five times and spewed all manner of racial epithets at blacks in the court room, including Anthony Holmes. How much more upside down in logic can this get? This leaves one speechless.
One suspects that if Bracamontes were white and the facts of the case were identical, suddenly CNN and the rest of those ignoring this problem would have put the spotlight on the attack on Anthony Holmes and the racial slurs yelled in the court room.
But no. When it comes to a Hispanic man who is utterly racist killing cops and shooting a black man in the face five times, then yelling those racial slurs in court — Donald Trump is the real racist.
Give me a break.
