Former Pittsburgh Steelers Head Coach Chuck Noll passed away on Friday of natural causes. He was 82.
Noll invented the Steel Curtain defense and led the team to four Super Bowl championships in the 1970s, the most by any head coach. What I find remarkable is that when people mentioned the greatest coaches in NFL history they will mention Vince Lombardi, Don Shula and Tom Landry while others invoke Bill Parcells and Bill Belichick. But seldom do I hear Noll’s name in the mix. He really should be and arguably at the top of that list.
