Christie Keeps His Hat On
by

There are multiple reports indicating New Jersey Governor Chris Christie will not seek the GOP nomination. Christie is expected to confirm these reports during a press conference which has been scheduled for 1 p.m. EST.

I cannot say this is surprising given how emphatically he has said in the past that he will not run even to the point of mentioning suicide. Consider also his interview with Diane Sawyer back in April in which he said:

A good way to put it: You don’t make a decision to run for president of the United States based on impulse. I don’t feel ready in my heart to be president. And unless I do, I don’t have any right offering myself to the people of this country. It’s much too big a job. And so you have to first feel in your heart that you’re ready and that you want it more than anything else.

Christie reiterated this same point during the Q & A session at the Reagan Library only a week ago. For him to run now would raise questions along the lines of, “How are you any more ready to be President now than you were a week ago?” or “Is the Presidency less of a big job now than it was six months ago?” Frankly, the idea that Christie was running for the Oval Office was nothing more than a media creation.

So now that’s out of the way, let me focus on someone who wants to be President namely Herman Cain. Yes, I have my nine reasons but keep this in mind. Herman Cain told the world he was considering a presidential run in December 2010. He formed an exploratory committee early in the New Year and formally announced his candidacy in May. Herman Cain decided he wanted to be President of the United States, looked into the feasibility of it and determined his candidacy was viable. By the looks of it, he isn’t the only one who thinks so. Chris Christie’s heart might not have been into being President but Herman Cain’s heart surely is and that has to count for something.
