Burger King Dethroned
by

Joe Lawler draws our attention to the dethroning of the Burger King, the last in the long line of monarchs who descended from the House of Whopper.

I agree with USA Today’s assessment that the current incarnation of the Burger King was “creepy.”

But in the late 1970s and early 1980s, the Burger King was portrayed by an actual human being. He even had an adversary named the Duke of Doubt. I guess it was Burger King’s answer to Ronald McDonald and Hamburglar although if you were watch this commercial you might very well grimace at the thought.
