With respect to Quin Hillyer calling upon Michele Bachmann to accept Chris Wallace’s apology, Bachmann told Sean Hannity last night that she received a phone call from Wallace and they worked things out. Bachmann has now accepted Wallace’s apology. (H/T Andy McCarthy at National Review)
As someone who is critical of some of Bachmann’s public policy positions, I appreciate Quin’s perspective. Nevertheless, I understand her reservations in not initially accepting Wallace’s apology. Bachmann has made mistakes but so has every other politician. Yet one doesn’t see Wallace asking Barack Obama or Joe Biden if they are flakes. Wallace might not have meant the use of the word “flake” in a derogatory way but if he hasn’t asked any other elected official/public figure if he or she is a flake then it seems hardly fair to single out Bachmann.
Despite Wallace’s public apology, Bachmann probably needed to hear it from him one on one. Wallace was wise to call her to clear the air.
