Obama Peddled Fiction in His Final SOTU Address
by

I watched President Obama’s final SOTU address.

When touting his economic successes, President Obama suggested that anyone who suggested that America’s economy was in decline was “peddling fiction.”

Frankly, Obama’s final address to Congress could be summed up as just that — peddling fiction. His whole presidency could be described in that manner whether one wants to cite “if you like your health care, you can keep it”, “ISIS is the Jayvee squad” or “red lines in Syria.”

He was peddling fiction when he spoke of 18 million signed up for Obamacare. Most of those are Medicaid sign ups and a lot of others are those who lost their health insurance because of Obamacare in the first place. How many people who are signed up to Obamacare are paying higher premiums and getting less care?

Obama was peddling fiction when he said he wanted to cut red tape. This from an administration which adds thousands of pages to the Federal Register every year especially where it concerns energy and the environment?

Obama is peddling fiction when he says that our enemies are not stronger when ISIS controls parts of three Middle Eastern countries? His boast about killing bin Laden rings false when you consider that ISIS came into being scarcely two years ago. If George W. Bush owns Iraq then Obama surely owns Syria and probably a whole lot more than that.

Obama is peddling fiction when he claims that countries don’t call on Russia and China for help. Tell that to the Gulf Arab states and Israel who have been abandoned by Obama in his pursuit of a nuclear agreement with Iran

Obama is peddling fiction when he boasts Iran nuclear deal has contained their ambitions. The 10 Navy sailors who were taken into Iranian captivity a few short hours ago might not see it that way. Needless to say, Obama didn’t see fit to mention them in his speech.

Obama is peddling fiction when he boasts of his “wise application of power”. This is a man who refused to enforce his own red line in Syria and wouldn’t sanction Iran for firing a missile within a mile of the USS Harry Truman. If Truman were alive he would give Obama some hell for his fiction peddling.

Obama is peddling fiction when he says we have protected Ukranian democracy with the presence of Russian troops.

Obama is peddling fiction when he lectures us on rational discussion. His idea of rational discussion is when people agree with him on all things, all the time This is a man who once said that Republicans want “dirtier air, dirtier water and people with less health care”. This is a man who said those who opposed Syrian refugees were basically a recruitment tool for ISIS.

For better or for worse, Obama’s insistence on peddling fiction is what has caused people to give serious consideration to the likes of Donald Trump who is (along with Ted Cruz) perceived as someone who tells like it is even when his telling it like it is changes from week to week (i.e. one week wages are too high, the next wages are too low). Be that as it may, Obama’s fiction peddling has people yearning for the unvarnished truth. If Trump is elected President it may be as much Obama’s doing as it is The Donald himself.

Obama concluded the SOTU in the way he introduced himself on the national stage at the 2004 DNC in Boston. Of course, Obama spoke again of hope and change. It is fitting because Obama’s vision of hope and change has proved to be the biggest fiction of all.
