Meadowlark Lemon, perhaps the most beloved member of the legendary Harlem Globetrotters basketball team, passed away on Sunday. He was 83.
Lemon was a member of the Globetrotters between 1955 and 1980 before leaving to form other teams based on the Globetrotters such as the Bucketeers, the Shooting Stars and Meadowlark Lemon’s Harlem All-Stars. He would return to the Globetrotters in 1994 and then retire. Lemon was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003.
For the past three decades, Lemon has been an ordained minister.
Heaven has a new resident. I have a feeling that he will be carrying a bucket of water with him.
Here is a video featuring Lemon as well as the late Wilt Chamberlain during their days as the Bucketeers.
