William Guest, an original member of Gladys Knight & The Pips, passed away on Christmas Eve of heart failure. He was 74.
Guest, a cousin of Knight, was a Pip from the group’s founding in 1953 until it disbanded in 1989 when Knight pursued a solo career. Following the dissolution of the Pips, Guest and fellow ex-Pip Edward Patten formed a company to manage other artists.
Gladys Knight & The Pips had hits with songs such as “I Heard It Through The Grapevine”, “Neither One of Us (Wants to Be the First to Say Goodbye”) and “Midnight Train to Georgia” which you can view in the video above (Guest is the first Pip on the left).
