On Friday night, music fans in London got more than their money’s worth at a Dave Davies concert when he brought out his older brother Ray and two played “You Really Got Me”.
This marks the first time the two main members of The Kinks have played together on stage since breaking up in 1996. The two brothers have had an acrimonious relationship.
Chances are this is a one off, but it will no doubt fuel speculation about a full fledged reunion and concert tour. The timing would be excellent as a Kinks biopic titled (fittingly enough) You Really Got Me begins filming in March to be directed by Julian Temple.
The Kinks were an integral part of the British Invasion during the 1960’s. In addition to “You Really Got Me”, The Kinks also had hits such as “All Day & All of the Night”, “Dedicated Follower of Fashion”, “Sunny Afternoon”, “Waterloo Sunset” and “Lola”.
Watch the video above. It leaves me wanting more. If The Kinks do stage a reunion tour and they come to Boston or NYC, I will be there.
