Well, At Least Chris Matthews Didn’t Call Cruz & Rubio ‘White Hispanics’
by

Following the GOP debate on the Fox Business Channel, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews demonstrated the depth of liberal thought while in conversation with Amanda Terkel of The Huffington Post:

So you’re trying to insinuate that Marco Rubio, a fellow, uh, Spanish surname, I’m not sure the right word is Hispanic for them. Because they are Cuban nationals or whatever, or come from Cuba. But, uh, is he going to insinuate that he is still basically for what he calls amnesty?

While Rubio and Cruz are of Cuban heritage, they are not Cuban nationals. (Indeed, Cruz was born in Canada). With that statement, Matthews has effectively declared that half of Miami isn’t Hispanic. Well, it could be worse I suppose. At least he didn’t give them the George Zimmerman treatment and call them “white Hispanics.”

But it just goes to show that when white liberals use the term Hispanic they are describing people who are poorer than they are and vote Democrat. Under the circumstances, it’s not surprising that liberals like Matthews don’t think of Rubio and Cruz as Hispanic.

Well, lo and behold, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz have different points of view on illegal immigration. And if it comes to down to the two of them, we will be hearing a lot about their differing points of view and the Republican caucus/primary voters will make their choice accordingly. As I wrote yesterday with regard to foreign policy, it is possible for Republicans to express differing points of view on illegal immigration. Among Democrats, if you are for anything less than full blown amnesty you are a racist.

As such it would not surprise me to hear Chris Matthews express uncertainty as to whether Ben Carson is black.
