Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has a lot of chutzpah.
Abbas claimed that Israel executed Ahmed Mansra, a 13-year old Palestinian boy in cold blood. In a speech televised on Palestinian state TV in Ramallah, Abbas defended his recent statement at the UN General Assembly that the Palestinian Authority would not abide by the Oslo Accords (as if they ever did). He declared that Palestinians:
will not agree to the continuation of the situation on our lands, nor to the policy of occupation and aggression of Israel and its settlers who are terrorizing our people, homes, trees, holy places and who execute our boys in cold blood, as they did with the boy Ahmed Mansra and other children in Jerusalem and other places.
The Palestinians are normally great propagandists. But there were a couple of big problems with Abbas’ statement.
First, Ahmed Mansra isn’t dead. In fact, he is very much alive and being treated at Jerusalem’s Hadassah Medical Center.
Second, Abbas conveniently omitted the fact that Mansra stabbed two people including a Jewish boy his own age. The PLO subsequently put out a new translation of Abbas’ speech which amended “execute” with “shot”. Except that Mansra wasn’t shot either. He sustained a head injury after he was hit by a car. But his injuries are not life threatening and he is expected to be released from the hospital in the next few days.
Despite this embarrassment, don’t expect the Palestinians to start letting the truth get in the way of their propaganda. Especially while they are busy wantonly stabbing Jews.
