Trump Was Wrong to Evict Ramos From His Press Conference
by

Before conservatives hail Donald Trump for having Univision news anchor Jorge Ramos from his news conference we should ask ourselves this question.

How would you react if President Obama had evicted a reporter for asking him tough questions?

Although President Obama has occasionally lost his temper with reporters (as he did recently with Major Garrett), he has never had one evicted from a news conference. Of course, the Obama White House did exclude Fox News reporters from interviewing administration officials shortly after taking office but received a backlash from the other networks. Needless to say, the image of a presidential candidate having a news anchor evicted from a news conference is one not easily forgotten.

Trump’s ejection of Ramos is particularly egregious when you consider that Ramos has been known to be tougher with Obama in his interviews than most American journalists.

I realize there will be some who think this is great. To me it’s lame. Evicting a journalist from a news conference for doing his job is an act of a petty tyrant. It’s also just plain wrong.
