Yesterday the Obama Administration publicly rebuked Israel for an attack on a UN Relief Works Agency school yesterday which left 10 Palestinians dead and displaced 3,000 others.
The Obama Administration proclaimed it was “appalled” by the incident and characterized as “disgraceful”. State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki lectured Israel when she said, The coordinates of the school, like all UN facilities in Gaza, have been repeatedly communicated to the Israel Defense Forces. We once again stress that Israel must do more to meet its own standards and avoid civilian casualties.”
Well, Psaki neglected to mention that Hamas has been using UNRWA schools to store their missiles. The UN is not a neutral party here. Besides who is the hell is Psaki to lecture the IDF about its military strategy? If Psaki has devised a way to destroy Hamas’ capabilities without losing the life of a single civilian then I’d like to hear it. The awful truth of war is that civilians die even when not targeted and nothing can be done to change that fact. If Psaki and the rest of the Obama Administration want peace then it should cease recognizing Hamas as a legitimate part of the Palestinian Authority and let Israel rid itself and the Arab world of the cancer that is Hamas.
While the Obama Administration sees fit to characterize Israel’s actions as “disgraceful” I have yet to see them use such a word to describe the acts of Hamas as “disgraceful”.
In fact, one would be hard pressed to find anyone who describes Hamas as “disgraceful” these days. That is unless you look to the center of the Arab world – Saudi Arabia to be exact. Yes, Saudi Arabia. On state TV last Friday, a statement written by King Abdullah was read condemning Hamas which stated in part, “It is shameful and disgraceful that these terrorists are doing this in the name of religion, killing the people whose killing Allah has forbidden, and mutilating their bodies and feeling proud in publishing this.”
You know the world has gone mad when the head of the Saudi royal family becomes the voice of reason. The Arab world is standing up to Hamas and the Obama Administration and the West is breathing life into it. Why is it that the Arab world considers Hamas disgraceful while the Obama Administration doesn’t?
I have a feeling this rush to judgment against Israel is going to bite the Obama Administration in the ass. This reminds me of when the world rushed to condemn Israel for the Jenin massacre in 2002. Only there was no Jenin massacre and even the UN had to fess up.
But even if that comes to pass the Obama Administration never admits its wrong and Israel is left to pay the price for its mistakes.
