John Kerry just addressed the use of chemical weapons in Syria. He calls the deployment of such weapons a “moral obscenity” and that their usage in Syria was “undeniable.
He has gone on to say that while investigations will continue, it is clear that the Assad regime has used chemical weapons and has systematically tried to destroy evidence by shelling the area in which the chemical attack occurred. Kerry says President Obama will hold people accountable, but doesn’t quite mention how.
As someone said on Twitter, “President Obama’s backbone is played by John Kerry today.” I also have to wonder how much of this is aimed at Russia. Will this statement presage our military involvement in Syria? This statement produced more questions than answers.
