Now That Hasan Been Convicted….

Now that Nidal Malik Hasan has been convicted for killing 12 soldiers and one civilian at Fort Hood in November 2009 (and is likely to be executed for it) pressure should be brought to bear on President Obama to a) declare the shootings an act of terrorism and b) to bestow Purple Hearts on the military personnel who survived the attack.

I harbor no illusions that Obama will do either of these things. As I wrote last month, “Unlike Trayvon Martin, no one who died at Fort Hood reminds Obama of himself.”

As such this is something that must be raised extensively during the 2014 mid-term elections and by GOP candidates seeking the White House in 2016.
