Actor Dennis Farina died suddenly today of a blood clot in his lung. He was 69.
Farina was best known for playing cops namely in Crime Story in the mid-1980s and later on Law & Order where he had the unenviable task of replacing the beloved Jerry Orbach. If Farina played the men in blue better than most actors it was because he was a former Chicago police officer.
Some of Farina’s film credits include Midnight Run, Get Shorty and Saving Private Ryan.
When I think of Farina, I think of Del Shannon’s “Runaway” which he re-recorded as the theme song for Crime Story.
