The Yankees Rush Jeter Back

When I found out the New York Yankees activated Derek Jeter today, my immediate reaction was, “What a stupid move. Have they not learned anything from Mark Teixeira?”

Jeter broke his ankle last October in the 2012 ALCS against the Detroit Tigers and did so again during his rehab. In his 2013 debut against the Kansas City Royals, Jeter collected a hit in four at bats as a DH. However, he would leave the game in the 8th inning with a strained quad. Jeter is day to day.

I watched video of Jeter running the bases. He looked like an old man. I might be a Red Sox fan, but I did not delight in seeing that video. It was sad to watch.

It’s true the Yankees aren’t getting much production from the shortstop position, but this reeks of desperation. I predict that Jeter will be back on the DL within a week.
