The 2010 and 2011 Stanley Cup champions will face off against each other in the 2013 Stanley Cup.
The Chicago Blackhawks defeated the defending Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings on Saturday in double OT to win the NHL Western Conference Final. On Friday, the Boston Bruins swept the Pittsburgh Penguins to win the NHL Eastern Conference Final.
It marks the first time two Original Six teams have played in the Stanley Cup since the Montreal Canadiens bested the New York Rangers in 1979.
This is so cool. A retro Stanley Cup. Well, that would only be true if they weren’t wearing helmets.
Needless to say, I am rooting for the Bruins. If the Blackhawks win, President Obama will be that much more insufferable.
Game 1 is set to begin on Wednesday.
