On Women Breadwinners

Last week, Lou Dobbs and Erick Erickson took some heat from Megyn Kelly on Fox News for discussing the idea that men should be the primary breadwinners in a family household:

This conversation is a fascinating one. American culture is such that even suggesting that there are real differences between men and women is met with vitriol. The debate was prompted by a New York Times article that cited Pew Research that 40% of family breadwinners are now women. Of course, the provocative headline glosses over the fact that the majority of these breadwinners—63% in fact—are single moms. But with people like Sarah Elizabeth Richards freezing their eggs in the hopes of still enjoying motherhood without sacrificing their careers, can we really suggest that gender truly does not matter and that there aren’t strong biological drives towards “traditional” motherhood?
