Why Obama’s Snub of Thatcher’s Funeral Is No Surprise

It shouldn’t exactly come as a shock that the Obama Administration won’t be sending any of its cabinet members over to London to attend Margaret Thatcher’s funeral.

I mean if Obama did everything he could to avoid talking to a living Labour Prime Minister why does it come as any surprise that he would avoid paying his respects to a dead Tory Prime Minister?

Besides Obama made it abundantly clear how he felt about dead Tory PMs when he returned the bust of Sir Winston Churchill to 10 Downing Street upon taking office in 2009.

It’s probably just as well if Obama doesn’t show up in London. He’s liable to give a bunch of Region 1 DVDs to the Thatcher family and talk over “God Save The Queen”. It would be a bloody embarrassment. Not that the mainstream media would ever tell us.

The least Obama could do is send Joe Biden across the pond. Isn’t it the Vice-President’s job to attend state funerals? It would be a wonderful opportunity for Biden to catch up with former Labour Party leader Neil Kinnock and compare biographies.
