Actress Ashley Judd announced on Twitter that she would not seek the Democratic Party’s nomination for the U.S. Senate seat in Kentucky currently held by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
Judd tweeted, “After serious and thorough contemplation, I realize that my responsibilities & energy at this time need to be focused on my family.”
Translation: I am not running because there’s no chance in hell those damn rednecks will vote for me.
With Judd out of the running, McConnell’s potential 2014 opponents include Governor Steve Beshear and Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergran Grimes.
