Ravens Upset Broncos in 2OT
by

I just watched the Baltimore Ravens-Denver Broncos AFC Semi-Final game and must say it was one of the best NFL games I’ve ever seen.

It was a back and forth game from start to finish with the teams being tied five times during the course of the game. The Ravens defeated the Broncos in 2 OT on a 47-yard field goal by Justin Tucker for a 38-35 win.

Ravens QB Joe Flacco was dancing on the edge of the precipice with several near interceptions and delays of game. But he also had three touchdown passes, two of them to Torrey Smith. The Ravens appeared dead on arrival when Flacco threw a 70-yard touchdown pass to Jacoby Jones with 31 seconds left in the fourth quarter. It sent the game into OT.

Trinton Holliday, the Broncos’ 5,5 return specialist was arguably the most valuable player of the game with a 90-yard punt return TD and a NFL record 104-yard kickoff return TD. Despite the Broncos being on the short end of the game, Holliday’s contributions were anything but diminutive.

Ex-Raven Brandon Stokely caught a TD pass from Broncos QB Peyton Manning and also did a hell of a Franco Harris impersonation making a near immaculate reception on a sinking pass from Manning.

Although Manning had a sensational comeback season with the Broncos winning their last 11 regular season games, it is worth noting that Manning could not do what Tim Tebow did last year – win a playoff game.

The Ravens will face either the New England Patriots or the Houston Texans in the AFC Final on January 20th.
